Needs work on customer service. Don't treat customers poorly. I'm mostly leaving this review because there wasn't a way to contact the restaurant aside from calling. I made a reservation for mine and my boyfriend's 3 year anniversary on December 11th at 7pm. When I arrived, a host came up to look for my reservation but was having trouble locating it. I showed him the text message that I had received to confirm my reservation so he kept looking. After a few minutes, the server came up to help. He asked me when and what time my reservation was so I told him, and then I flashed him my phone to show him my reservation. He kept looking for my name but couldn't find it, so asked me if I was sure l had made a reservation and I told him that I did and that I had a confirmation text. He then put his hand up to my face and told me to stop showing him my text because he could see. I told him that I was just trying to show him my confirmation and that he didn't need to be rude, to which he responded and told me that he was the only server working that night. He then realized that host had been looking at the wrong date and found my name. He then tells me that we can both handle this like adults, and I asked him why he was being so rude. He then pauses, sighs, rolls his eyes, and looks at me and asks if I want a table or not. With it being my anniversary and having looked forward to visiting this bar, I told him I would like a table and he sat me down, however, had it just been a random visit, I would have just left. The drinks were good but overpriced. Didn't try the food. We only stayed for two drink as the initial interaction ended up tainting the rest of the experience. I honestly don't think I'll be back, and I wouldn't recommend this bar to anyone. There are far better places to visit in SF and you'll get way...
Read moreWizards & Wands had great service - attentive and friendly. We went on a Friday at 6 pm and it was surprisingly empty.
The decor is all Harry Potter themed, which is fun at first, but it felt a little gimmicky overall. They have a lot of big group tables, but for couples or smaller groups, the only option was these really uncomfortable high-top tables with stools that offered zero back support and such tight leg room that my friend ended up standing the whole time.
The food and drinks were a mixed bag. The Butterbeer was decent, with a nice brown butter flavor, although the butterscotch was a bit weak. It ended up tasting mostly like cream soda towards the bottom.
The Cauldron Shot was a total letdown – just a shot of Baileys in a cool-looking cauldron shot glass that's way too wide to comfortably drink from (made for a funny struggle, though!).
The Three-Legged Fox cocktail was a miss for me – tasted more like grass. I gave up after two sips.
The Golden Arancini was okay (at this point, our expectations were quite low), but nothing special.
The Darko's oyster dip was actually quite good, with a rich umami flavor, but the portion size was tiny – barely enough chips to scoop up all the dip. Disappointing value for the price.
Overall, Wizards & Wands seems to prioritize presentation and the "wow factor" over substance. The drinks were uneven, and some were just plain weird, and the food, while okay, wasn't worth the premium price tag. If you're looking for a fun and immersive experience, it might be worth a visit, but for strong cocktails and well-priced bites, I'd...
Read moreDon’t get me wrong, the food and drinks were delicious! Bit pricey for the amount of food we got, but the taste is great. I’m not sure why people say it’s $20-30 per person. That’s not even 1 cocktail and the cheapest appetizer. Drinks are about $18, and the food is $15-$20. If you’re someone who can have one app that’s not filling, and only one cocktail, then it’s about $30-$40. The food and drinks are the only reason it’s not a single star rating though because they were delicious! The service however, was terrible! They take normal 6 person tables, and divide them into a group of 4, and 2 people at the end. The divider is a random wooden piece that they add on and it isn’t stable and can easily tip over. I measured and BARELY had from my elbow to my fingertips worth of room. Very uncomfortable. I came with my girlfriend, and we had our server walk past us 5 times and I would try to make eye contact and it seemed she would purposefully ignore us and avoid us. After turning my body and stopping her the next time she walked by, and asking her to take our order, she almost seemed offended that I asked. No hello, didn’t bring us water, nothing. I also watched and noticed other guests having distraught faces and it seemed others were annoyed with the service as well. The bathrooms are also very unclean!!! For the food and drinks, 8 out of 10 (again bit expensive) the service and...
