Solid 3/5. If you make an appointment for two, much less for multiple services, do not expect to get any service simultaneously. I was done long before my friend's service was even started, and ultimately I had to leave her there because it had been an hour and a half since we arrived and her nails were just getting started then. "Busy" should not be synonymous with "understaffed", but it often is. We did that small dance of frustration as we watched walk-ins around us start their services before my friend's nails were even started. The first two times you think, okay they obviously have a process we aren't privy to, who am I to tell them how to run their business? But by the fifth person you're like okay...
The nails themselves - mediocre. They missed a huge gap of cuticle, the shaping was uneven, they did the thing where they cut your toenails too short and then they whip out the nail file and you're like, what more do you have to file?? The painting itself was fine, but the process wasn't relaxing or comfortable or nice.
Finally, the thing that really drops to 3 stars, is you can pay by card. It is Square. We all know how Square works. They run your card if if it is a service that implements tipping, there is a screen to press which tip. But no, they have a large blinking ATM in the corner, and the person ringing me up said "sorry, we only tip in cash". So, unless I want to look like the cheap you-know-what-I'm-talking-about patron, I pathetically walk over to the ATM machine, pay the $3 fee to get $20 out, to tip my manicurist who did a poor job because that's the system they have designed. Sir, you CAN tip on the card, you're just choosing not to.
Anyway, can't wait to make an appointment in my neighborhood like 2-3 weeks before I should need to, just to get this stuff fixed.
Edit: Dropped to 2 stars, the polish (and gel, for my friend) lasted less...
Read moreThis place has incredibly poor time management and did not have enough people working for the amount of appointments they accepted. My friend and I had appointments starting at 4, we came in on time. The appointments were for gel pedicures and were meant to last an hour. When we arrived, there were already two other women in the chairs that seemed to have their toes half done but no one was working on them. Finally around 4:20/4:30 we were able to sit in the pedicure chairs and they started working on my friend. Unfortunately, the water was cold off the bat for both my friend and I. At this time another woman arrived for a pedicure and they sat her down but were unable to start on her either. Around 4:45 they were able to start working on the woman that arrived last, but still no one came to assist either myself or the two women that had been there at the very beginning. Finally at 5 the person finished up with my friend and came to me, but at that point I told them that I no longer wanted the service. The appointment was supposed to be for an hour (although given how quick they did my friends and how many people were waiting I doubted it would be the complete service) and I didn’t want to stay until potentially 6.
Outside of the bad time management, my friends pedicure also turned out poorly. Even tho we booked for the longer and more expensive appointment, they didn’t really do anything special outside of the gel polish. They didn’t do much exfoliating and her polish was all over her toes at the end. There was also no massage included, they put oil on her legs but...
Read moreI’ve been to JoyJoy twice now. The first time for a gel pedicure, would have rated a 4. The second/most recent for a hard gel manicure, would give 1 star. The prices are good BUT I would highly encourage anyone to go to Zorina and pay a higher fee for a fantastic experience and a gel manicure that last 3x as long as JoyJoy’s lasted me. I’ve been getting hard gel for over 2 years. They last me 3+ weeks. This gel manicure was poorly done, thin, and lasted me 11 days before my nails chipped and cracked after doing the dishes. I asked for a refund as I had zero interest in returning after having an uncomfortable experience and miscommunication with an associate. Following the miscommunication the woman talked about me to other associates while doing my nails. Uncomfortable and unprofessional. I was only given the option of returning to have 1-3 of my...
