If I could give zero stars I would. This school was referred to me with a high recommendation from a previous student. My son, who just graduated from high school this June, has been struggling trying to find any type of profession he was even interested in pursuing for higher education and a career direction.
When I mentioned film school, it was the first time he had a light in his eyes. I submitted the contact form to get more info from SFFS and was immediately called by "Alfreda" and they had one phone conversation. He has since decided not to pursue this school or career direction at this time.
She called him today. He stayed home from work and has been very sick since NY Eve. Thinking it's even Norovirus as his side of the family has all been sick, violently sick. So when she called today, he answered from a dark sleep, and she asked if he was still interested in the school and he replied, barely able to speak, "No, I'm not interested" and hung up and closed his eyes again.
She immediately sent this text to him below. I called to speak to her manager, and of course she answers the phones. She told me that they were out until the 15th. I asked to speak to anyone in leadership that was above her. She refused. I then told her she was a horrible example of a school admissions representative and should never have replied with this garbage text. She even told me, "Aren't you embarrassed at the way he treated me?" and you know...the mama bear came out in me and I told her she should be ashamed of herself!!!
As a potential student who was once excited about the possibilities ahead of him in this industry, he's now trying to understand why anyone would want to go to this school. To be honest, if she wouldn't have insulted both of us, I was more than happy to let her know that he's very sick and would never hang up on someone like that, he's the sweetest human on the planet.
She even told me she's the VP of some department and that makes it even more repulsive that she would respond this way to a potential student. Sales is sales, and because someone can't go to your school or buy your program, you should NEVER EVER EVER reply back with...
Read moreWish I could give the school a zero. I'm a veteran. I filled out an application in August and wasn't sure I was going to go due to timing issues. I received a call from the VP Alfretta Clark on Friday. I thought it was a follow up call from the school but it ended up being an harassment call. She was upset that I didn't call the school and let them know if I was coming or not. She was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. She started calling me names and started to bring up the money I would get for attending the school. She kept throwing it up in my face. I think she was jealous. IF YOU'RE A VETERAN BEWARE!! I think these people pray on the pay that they would receive from going there.
I asked for her superior's information on the phone and through email and she would not give it to me. I thought I might go to the school at a later date. I found out that I could of taken online classes so I might of went when I originally planned but she denied my application based on her emotions. Alfretta Clark is a horrible and entitled person. To call a stranger with that kind of attitude is inexcusable and deplorable. Her words were "You should be calling us!" like her and her school were better than me and all the veterans that attend. I never heard of the school before finding it through the VA.
She needs to be more careful with her words because you never know what a person is going through in life especially veterans who served this country to protected her and her school. Without us there would be no school. That level of respect needs to establish at San Francisco Film School before they receive any more money from the VA.
I'll be following up tomorrow. I will try and talk with the President and see if he's more level headed and respectful. It will be hard though. They stopped answering my calls after they disrespected me. I want reciprocity and an apology ASAP! I wont stop...
Read moreI had a hard time with this school. I started in January 2020, so certain circumstances were out of their control. However they got remote classes up and running fast, which was very impressive.
I will say upon lengthy reflection this school isn’t what I expected. Unfortunately I was there during the hight of the pandemic so my opinion is highly affected by that. In saying that I was let down in some ways that the school did have control over and not so much in others. It was a hard time for everyone…
Overall the staff is knowledgeable and most are very enthusiastic. The school also gives the students lots of freedom and that makes for a very good experience. The school has high end equipment and they teach students to use all of it. The biggest draw for me to this school was the number of projects you work on over the course of the program, which is more than most courses. Unfortunately though there were some drawbacks and let downs. The teachers can be highly opinionated and stuck in their ways, which sometimes is not a good thing. However I did learn a good deal of things especially later in the course.
Overall I feel the school was ok and the staff seemed dedicated and were supportive, however like I said I was let down in...
