My wife and I were scheduled to attend a dinner hosted by our wine club on Thursday, 2/7. The first course on the menu was Dungeness crab cakes. My wife has a life-threatening allergy to crustaceans. We contacted the City Club of San Francisco to inform them of my wife's allergy so that they could prevent cross-contamination in the kitchen and give her another option for the first course. This business contacted us and told us that they would be refunding our money; there was no option for my wife's allergy to be accommodated.

Read moreI'm very lucky to know a couple of members. I have been there for lunch many times. When I go Monday - Thursday, I always get the kale salad. It is amazing. Friday, I usually get the prime rib buffet. It never disappoints. Social clubs in the city are dying slowly but this one is reasonably priced. They also have specials membership for people under 40 that young professionals should seriously consider. One of the best margarita I have had in a while and on Tuesday it is $3 each.
