Short Review: VERY OBVIOUS Crooked haircut. :( Long Review: We were vacationing in San Fran for a few days. My husband didn't have enough time to get a haircut before we left home, so upon arrival in SF, we called around looking for a place with an immediate opening that was reasonably priced and distanced from our hotel. This wasn't easy, and this was the first place we found, so we reserved their only opening and walked swiftly to the business. It's your typical SF business...outwardly attractive and relatively neat. They offer free liquor and beer to their customers. I wasn't really sure if this complied with local liquor laws, but hey, it's free, albeit odd. After a brief wait, a man began giving my husband his requested razor fade. It took an extremely long time compared to the dozen or so other barbershops I've had to sit in while my dear husband received his grooming, but, hey, quality take time, right? Obviously complete screw ups take time as well because, even from across the length of the room, I could see his hair was cut CROOKED. The guy actually shaved my husband an entirely new hairline, which is fine, if it had been anywhere near the vicinity of his natural hairline, but it wasn't. Please note, my husband is in his early 30's and not experiencing hair loss in any way, so I'm not sure why this guy shaved his hair so far back. I think the barber realized he made the hairline quite crooked and overcompensated during the attempt to correct it...in doing so, he made the mistake way worse and way more obvious. Next came the awkward period when my husband asked me how it looked. I lied. I said it looked okay, while I prayed he'd not spend too long looking in the mirror, as I'm sure he would have called the guy out on the glaring mistake. Luckily, for the barber, my husband didn't notice until we were a few blocks away, walking down the street, when he caught a glimpse of his reflection in a storefront. Needless to say, he had a very big reaction. So, all of our vacay pics are of me, my husband, and an extremely screwed up haircut. It became the third wheel of our vacation as my husband (I must say, rightfully so) became extremely conscientious of his very messed up hair. It took forever for his hair to grow back. With the tip, the entire ordeal cost close to $100. We were okay with the cost because it's SF, where everything is expensive, but, in comparison, back home in Denver, he can get a razor fade, steamed towels and all, for $10, with no complaints and no crooked lines. Seriously, this was the worst money ever spent on any vacation ever, and we've danced with some extreme food poisoning in the Caribbean. Overall, I'd advise going elsewhere. Getting a haircut here...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went in for a beard trim, which was great. This is my second visit to the shop. The first time, I had a wonderful experience with Soni. This time, Soni was unavailable, so I had Vy, who was also good.
My only issue was with the lady at the front. When leaving, I asked her for Soniās name since I had forgotten it. Instead of simply helping me, she turned around and asked if I was unhappy with Vyās service, who was within earshot. This made the situation awkward and uncomfortable for me because both barbers are good; I just preferred Soni and wanted to get his name and maybe book in advance of my next appt. She was also a bit condescending when asking me to describe him, which felt unnecessary. Instead of suggesting helpful ways to find his name, like checking my Venmo or looking at my previous receipt, she focused on my description and made me feel awkward when it didnāt meet her standards. Eventually, I figured it out using Venmo, since I remembered tipping him on the app.
She also inserted herself into my service with Vy. I prefer a blade shave and usually skip aftershave, which has never been an issue in the 20 years I've been getting my beard done. However, she went off on a tangent about how I would break out and that Vy shouldnāt use a blade without aftershave. Her unsolicited opinion created a weird environment where I felt compelled to justify my personal grooming choices to her.
Overall, the barbers are great, but I donāt see myself returning if that woman (who I believe might be the owner) is at the front. People need to understand that there are various personalities, and itās important to create comfortable...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter one visit this little Barbershop has become the one and only place I will allow my hair to be cut. Not only did Nikki Le give me a phenomenal hair cut, she was by far the most personable barber Iāve ever encountered. Normally you sit in the chair you might get the normal few questions however your just waiting for the cut to be completed so you may leave. This was not the case with Nikki Le, when she finished up with my haircut I almost didnāt want to leave! I was about to keep telling her shorter just due to having a great enjoyable conversation. Overall she is a very energetic and bubbly barber with outstanding skills to follow. If you want a hair cut and to have a good time while doing so then take my advice and stroll on down to The Barbershop š in San Francisco and go see Nikki Le, and if after it all your disappointed Iāll give you $5.00 bucks myself!
