My girlfriend and I wanted to go on the Margarita Trail, but when arriving at the tourism center they were closed, even though it was before their posted closing time. Luckily, the local restaurants gave us stamps on the informational pamphlet so that we could transfer them once we obtained a real booklet. The next day we went back to the tourism center only to find they were on a break less than an hour after opening. We waited until the employee returned, and that’s when things went from bad to worse. When buying the book we were told they accepted cash only, but when I tried to pay with a $20 bill they were put off, asking why I didn’t have any smaller denomination of bill and saying they only “hoped” they had change for it. Once we got the booklet, we explained to the employee that we had a total of 6 stamps, three from each of us, but were then told that we could get a max of two stamps per day. The employee then went on to say that we should not be drinking that much and insinuated we were not spending our time in the city correctly. My girlfriend found this particularly insulting because in the time that she previously lived here she worked for multiple museums and did volunteer work for the city, so we felt like our time was well spent. After obtaining our two stamps we went to the tourism center across the street to lodge a complaint. When we recounted this to the other tourism employee she also seemed more concerned that we had three drinks each, rather than the inability to be open during posted hours, or a city employee talking down to us because we were “spending our time here incorrectly”. It seems unconscionable to me that government employees will get angry when trying to purchase something with a $20 bill and can insinuate that two adults are being irresponsible and drinking too much by having three drinks for a city sponsored drinking event; especially in a state that is crawling with...

Also faulted: shut down completely for lunch because of short staffing. HOWEVER I was able to obtain a fishing guide and a map/chart of State Parks that weren't available at two...
