Carrie has been doing my full color, double process treatments for over 13 years. With her extensive educational background in color theory and chemistry, she is uniquely qualified to do excellent, complex color applications, as well as color corrections. She is creative, insightful and her sense for matching what her client wants and needs–and even being able to up that to the next level at fruition–is peerless.

While receiving a treatment at an upscale salon she was working at in Seattle, I actually experienced a state instructor administering an exam for another Stylist stop what they were doing to come over to us to observe her technique and ask her questions about how and what she was doing/using in order to accomplish the amazing results he was seeing, they were so impressive! I am also a licensed professional in the beauty industry so my standards are HIGH. She meets and exceeds them every single time.

She is also as phenomenal at cuts as she is at color and can be as creative or classic as her client wants or needs; her client dictates the direction of her styling–she offers no pressure and provides ample information on various services and tiered options (where applicable) to fit individual clients’ needs. She is clear about pricing and everything is posted for one’s review ahead of time on her site.

Something that is also important to me (and frankly increasingly difficult to find these days) is that she is always punctual, always takes her appointments seriously and respects her clients’ time, too. You won’t be waiting for her for an hour and she will be there when she is supposed to be. She also uses a service that makes making an appointment a breeze and it reminds you about your appointment via texts or emails and provides easy directions, etc. It makes things so easy to plan and execute!

I have nothing but good things to say about Apotheka, and especially about my stylist James. I started seeing James when she was at Gary Manuel, and followed her to Apotheka when she went independent. She's the perfect balance of engaged but not too nosy, and she exudes ease and grace that I find super relaxing to be around. Plus, ace haircuts and color. I have platinum blonde short hair, which as a former hairstylist I can tell you is hard to do right. But she nails it every time.

The salon itself is beautiful and the location is great. It's central, but the parking is really easy and always plentiful. I appreciate being surrounded by plants and beautiful decor when I'm there. And they carry really amazing products that are hand-selected by the salon owners, both veterans in the business who know their stuff.

Absolutely love Apotheka Salon, but I have to give a special shoutout to James! If you’re looking for a stylist who’s equal parts artist, magician, and cheerleader, James is your person. Her work ethic is unmatched—she’s always the first to greet you with a smile and the last to make sure every hair is perfectly in place.

James is incredibly flexible (I swear she must have a secret calendar just for squeezing me in on my most chaotic days) and she’s never afraid to try something new. Whether I’m feeling bold or want to stick with the classics, she listens, suggests, and somehow always manages to exceed my expectations. You can really tell she takes pride in her craft—every appointment feels like a collaboration, and she’s genuinely excited about making me look and feel my best.
