Tl;DR: This store either overprices their pieces to make you feel like you’re getting a deal, or they’re low-balling their appraisals, but either way there’s some dishonesty here. I’m willing to bet it’s the former, as I found an identical men’s wedding band from the same manufacturer for $140 less at another jeweler.
Where do I begin with our experience here at Hannoush Jewelers? My fiance and I set out to pick out an engagement ring for her, when we walked into Hannoush. Our initial impression was very good as both of the salespeople really took the time to find a ring she liked and they took nearly $1000 off the price to better work with our price range (or so we thought). We also both found bands that we really liked, and thought that just like that, we had it all figured out.
It was after this initial experience, that things began to change. I was told in-store that I couldn’t take advantage of any sales on my band because they had to special order them individually. I didn’t know any better, so I went along with it. However, when looking for my band online to take another look at it, I found that it is from the Triton brand of tungsten wedding bands, and they were sold online for around $140 less than offered at Hannoush. Thinking that perhaps this was an online only price, I searched for other retailers around Burlington that also sell their rings and found one almost instantly. When I went to them, I found that their price was even less than the online price, no sales or promotions required, and the customer service was beyond top notch, so I decided to purchase my band from them instead of Hannoush.
A few weeks later, we went to our insurance company to ask about how to go about insuring our wedding jewelry, and we were told to head to the store and have them do an appraisal. So we went to Hannoush and we were given an appraisal for her engagement ring that was just a bit more than what we paid out the door for it, after Hannoush had applied their promotion. This made us uneasy, but we were told that “this is how things are done” and that was that. However, upon doing our own research via multiple alternative sources, including other jewelers (with whom we did not share this story so they wouldn’t be attempting to undermine another store) and found that we had been misled, either with an overly inflated list price, making us feel like we got a deal, or with an egregiously undervalued appraisal. I’m sorry, but if you can’t appraise a piece of jewelry at the price you were originally trying to sell it for, that seems shady. Either way, we went to the same store where I found my band, to see if my fiance could find another engagement ring that she would be happy with. We were once again treated with that same great service, had a piece custom made for the same price as what Hannoush was charging for her original ring and with that, returned to Hannoush to return her other ring.
Understandably, the Store Manager was not happy with this, and said “Oh well if you want us to raise the appraisal value, we can do that. It’s not what we normally do, but if it’ll keep you happy”. It was at this point that I stopped and asked if it was ever actually worth the original pre-sale price and he shot back with “ well, we ARE trying to run a business here”. That was it for us, we returned the ring, got our money back, and went to the jeweler that treated us like gold (no pun intended), even when they weren’t...
Read moreCalled in advance for a battery replacement on my watch. My expectations were to wait while they replace it in store. Upon my arrival, I was informed that since the watch was a Movado, it would require days to be sent out and replaced. I wasn't happy. I left momentarily then returned to get a clarification about info provided in my initial phone call. Finally, I was told that if I didn't need the special moisture sealing process for the Movado, then they indeed could replace the battery in store. There was no charge, since the watch was purchased in 2001 at another Hannoush location. Very satisfied with their patience with me, handling of my expectations and resolution of my problem. I will return to obtain an appraisal of a diamond ring needed for an...
Read moreI worked with Courtney at the South Burlington location and she was fantastic! She was very nice, patient and super helpful with helping us pick it a ring. I felt very comfortable going in for the first time and the service felt very personal compared to another store I went to previously that day. I highly recommend them due to their knowledge and great customer service. I'm so glad I went there. When I picked up my ring there were 2 ladies there (forgot their names) and I was the only one in the store at the time, they didn't ignore me or make me uncomfortable at all. They were both extremely nice and talkative and made me...
