Stop & Shop — Local services in Town of North Hempstead

I cannot begin for the life of me understand how on earth this store has a 4 star rating. After living on long island for my entire life and frequenting all of the commercial supermarket chains, this location is by far the worst, which is absolutely shocking considering the relatively upper middle class neighborhood it resides in. The produce section is disgraceful at best, it’s either completely bare, or stocked with overripe and expired fruits and vegetables, not to mention grossly overpriced. The deli staff is incompetent at best, I cannot being to count the amount of times I’ve had to return things because they’ve either given me something I didn’t ask for or I received a completely different item. The store in general is constantly in disarray, they never have any of the yogurts we eat, the milk always goes bad close to a week before the expiration date. There’s never any more than 2 cashiers at any given time, so lines are always ridiculous. I could go on for awhile. I truly have no idea how this store has such a high rating because I am constantly commiserating with other shoppers in the store. All other departments not withstanding the produce department is the worst I've encountered. I usually go around 6pm on weekdays, on my way home from work, like 99% of most people. So one would expect product to be out for the last wave of the day. But shelves are empty. And whatever is out there is old and passed its time. So tell me Stop&Shop - if I am working all day and weekends are already slammed with other chores, when am I supposed to buy produce?

Customer service here is atrocious. Manager on duty today was very nasty and rude. Associates at customer service are not friendly and give attitude. Lines down the aisles today. No registers open, only self checkout, 1 associate to assist tons of old people who don't know how to use self checkout at all and hold up the entire line. Had a question before I came in, called and got hung up on twice, third time I waited on hold for just over 15 minutes before an associate with a horrible, nasty attitude problem picked up. She could not help me and got her manager, who was even nastier, condescending and mean. I never use Stop n Shop because the "fresh" foods are not fresh looking at all, but I gave it a try today and I will NEVER make that...
