High Tide Surf Shop — Local services in Tybee Island

I had the best time shopping at High Tide Surf Shop. Hannah and Ariel helped me find T shirts as presents for my wife and daughter, and I saved $5 bucks by buying two. There was a non-stop steady flow of customers whom they helped while I was there, but were never too busy to answer my questions and check back on me as I shopped. The vibe between the two ladies was that they were there to enthusiastically help all who were in the store, and I thought they were an incredible asset to the shop and it’s patrons. I was really just in Savannah on a quick business trip, and decided to go see the ocean at Tybee Island. I am a landlocked surfer so just dipping my toes in the sand is therapeutic for me, but after my wonderful experience at High Tide Surf Shop, I almost forgot to turn right and go towards the ocean a few more block up, because “my cup was full” after such a great experience! It was the first time boyfriend and I have visited Tybee island and we didn’t know there wouldn’t be many bathrooms opened around the area. We were walking for a long time trying to find a bathroom, and we decided to stop in and ask politely where one would be. However, the woman working decided to yell at me to go to chu’s. I asked her politely, and she decided to have an attitude and yelled “Chu’s!” right in my face. She didn’t even tell me where it was and just glared at me like she just wanted us to leave. We were thinking about stopping in there to shop, but now we won’t ever step foot in there again since the workers don’t want people in there apparently. Unfortunately I have to give it one star...

High Tide! Always a great selection and always in tune with the current trends. Ari and the crew have taken care to provide a shop for both surfers and tourists, fashion-forward folks and kooks alike. But my favorite part is the vibes. It’s a fun place to go; it’s loud and colorful and void of elitist attitudes and egos. On any given day, there could be dudes swapping surf stories or the local grom-squad bombing down the lane on their skateboards.
