Food was great but service and kindness of employees was not. Four of us at here for a late lunch yesterday and we each left over a thirty percent tip even though we had to ask to have our teas refilled and the waitress wasn’t very friendly. But the reason why I will NEVER patronize this establishment again is because we came back in about twenty minutes after we left because my Mom ( who is a pancreatic cancer survivor and has permanent issues with not being able to hold or control her bowels for me than a few minutes after she needs to go) and I went back in for her to use their bathroom. They were tying to clean the bathrooms to close, we asked if we could please just let my Mom use the restroom. They said no they were cleaning them. So I explained what the issue was and they said, “No we are mopping and that’s a liability”. I said my Mom was going to mess herself if she couldn’t get into the bathroom right away. They knew we had just eaten there because I told them. So they said we would have to go to the bathroom around the corner outside. We ran there and the door was off it’s hinges and I had to pick it up and hold it in front of the opening for my Mom to go to the bathroom. That restaurant had no compassion for someone who has fought to be alive and now has some stomach issues from the surgery they had to do to save her life and the women in there didn’t care at all. It was a very sad show of lack of compassion. It’s very embarrassing for my Mom and it was embarrassing for her for me to have to tell FIVE ladies that work there that were standing around talking. Very sad. This is the bathroom they sent my Mom to use. What they did was despicable and heartless. My Mom...
Read moreLike Biden, the Sundae Cafe at Tybee was overpriced, overdone and past its prime although well meaning. THE MOST expensive tasteless meal we ever had. Our out of town guest were really let down after hearing all the great attractions in Savannah. When they told us they were staying at Tybee, I said why? I grew up down there. The Waffle House is 5 Star. Recommend? Eat before coming to Tybee. You know how the USDA grades meat? There's Prime, Choice, and Select. Then the lower grades are Standard, Commercial, Utility, Cutter, and Canner. This was just shy of Utility but were charged like we were at Morton's of Chicago. I get it. Tybee , tourist trap and food cost. I lost respect for Tybee when they blocked the view of the ocean front from the curve 18th. I'm not a food snob but if you want to RETURN to your establishment provide a fair priced meal with a smattering of taste. The highlight of the evening was going next door to Chu's to get a Reese's Peanut butter cup to displace the aftertaste. Sundae earned my review. If Gerald's Pig and Shrimp was still in business, it would have been on par with that. The presentation was OK. There, I said something nice.
Here's a tip for the waitress. You shouldn't lean on the dinner table like it was a rigging post for a horse. Whitewashing (the truth) the reason the appetizers didn't come before dinner and even during by throwing the chef under the bus wasn't professional.
TREAT PEOPLE FAIRLY OR THEY'LL LEAVE REVIEWS LIKE THIS.
Try the Breakfast Club. Real diner food. At least they've kept the spirit of fairness and taste...
Read moreWe were very excited about trying this restaurant. We are vacationing here for the first time and upon reviews decided this place would be great to try. We had to reserve a table of 4 and 3 to accommodate our group. We were told there was no way we could sit together or close. There was a table that remained open the entire time we were there that would have accommodated all of us together. Wait staff wasn’t very friendly. Food was mediocre at best. Very expensive for very little food and food was flavorless. Two of our group got the seafood trio and the amount of food as well as lack of flavor was very disappointing for $54 a plate. The plate consisted of crab stuffed flounder that was very tough, the 3 shrimp dry, and 2 scallops tough. My adult daughter never got a refill on her water had to drink mine. Met some Savannah locals who travel to eat there often and said they agreed food was not good tonight. Sad that this place made famous by a tv show couldn’t live up to the expectation. We always look for that restaurant we will go back to while on vacation and this was not the one. We love to find food while vacationing because I want a vacation from cooking also so we expect to pay good money to eat. $400 was way overboard for this restaurant for our group and I had a sandwhich. No drinks and no dessert on this bill...
