Purchased one of my dream cars as sort of a coming home gift to myself. A 1991 Twin turbo Toyota Supra imported all the way from Japan. To my dismay, the ECU died within a month of ownership, understandable from a 28 year old car computer. Now a new one of these (If you can find one) will run you 1-2 thousand bucks. So I went about trying to find someone in the central Ohio area who will still do board level repair. Not one of the brick and mortar computer repair stores would take on the job and few even knew what I was talking about even after being SHOWN what repair to perform (All I need is a 30 cent capacitor re-soldered and a few traces checked). I resolved to perform the repair myself, but while looking online for soldering kits I find HeyNerdFixit on google. Called the listed number and spoke with the owner Shane, and right away I knew I was talking to someone who knows his trade. For the first time when I was explaining the smoking black hole in the 33 micro farad capacitor that blew up, the person didn't respond with "Whats a farad?". Shane explained that their establishment is not open to the public but that he does on site troubleshooting, and delivers repaired components to the customer. I decided to give it a shot and asked Shane to take a crack at repairing my ECU. The repair took a little longer than estimated because of the memorial day weekend but Shane kept me updated nearly everyday until he had completed the job.
Shane, sorry I took so long to write you a review but thank you again for the excellent work, I got the car fired up the very next day and she ran...
Read moreI will never trust another computer technician again. It is people like this guy who give other technicians a bad name. I paid $200 for a graphics card repair on my iMac and still had the same problem after this repair, and he had my computer for 2 weeks!
After he did the repair, he said the repair was not successful and that I would pay the full price of the repair regardless. He even practically stated later he saw a video on YouTube where a genuine and experienced computer technician, Louis Rossman, based in New York stated repairing or re-balling graphics cards does not work! Why would he risk a repair and charge a customer anyway on an unorthodox and unprofessional repair? Not to mention, my iMac screen was not properly re-installed either after it was returned (off by some millimeters). Truly awful experience. Also, he damaged my iMac power cord in the process and it no longer worked after it was returned back to me.
Seriously, what an unprofessional and scamming businessman. Such unethical and poor business practices from this company. I am writing this to inform people who need a computer repair and who care about their computer as much a I do! Please get something is writing when doing business with these people and be clear on the terms. Hopefully I can save someone hundreds of dollars on a failed repair. Please be aware...
Read moreI have an HP All-in-One Touchsmart computer that unfortunately stopped working within a year after purchasing. I let it sit for awhile but decided to see if it was fixable at a reasonable price. Shane was recommended to me by a long-time friend, and I’m so glad he was. I found Shane to be honest, a great communicator and quick to respond (he picked up my computer the very next day after I reached out to him). He also took the time to explain what was going on, as well as answer all my questions thoroughly, making sure I understood the issues, options to repair if that’s what I wanted, as well as costs upfront (no surprises).
I am super excited that my PC is up and running again! Shane went above and beyond to fix my PC at a very reasonable price. I’m so glad to have found an awesome go-to “nerd” for all my computer needs. ☺️
I’m very pleased with the entire experience I had with Shane and HeyNerdFixIt.com. I highly recommend...
