I have a love/hate relationship with DXL. If you go there during an off time and can get a sales rep, they are awesome. I purchased a few pair of jeans from them a month or so ago, I went during a slow time, had a very attentive sales rep, and was in and out in under 30 minutes.
Unfortunately getting a sales rep is NOT the norm. In the past week I've tried twice to go in and buy a new pair of dress shoes for work. Both times I had to swing by on my lunch hour. My most recent attempt was today and there were only 2 other cars in the parking lot. I sat in the shoe area for a while both times (about 10 minutes the first time and several minutes my most recent attempt).
Here's the issue the sales reps are few and they do EVERYTHING. They don't even have dedicated cashiers, the sales rep has to check you out. On my first attempt they had a total of 2 sales reps working, today they just had one. If you know what you want and can get to it this won't be a factor, but if you need shoes from the back room, or to use a changing room, etc. you will need to wait for a rep which can be anywhere from 5-30 minutes depending on how busy they are. I have a 1 hour lunch and cannot spend half of it waiting on a rep, that would leave me about 10 minutes to try on the shoes, pay, and get out of the store to make it back to work on time.
Their customer service is amazing, I'll definitely give them that. I just don't see how there business model is sustainable. I watched another set of customers walk out with me today. If things change in the future and they get the staff to match the demand I may try them again, until then it's online...
Read moreThis place is awesome!!! I have struggled all my life to find jeans that would fit me. I walked in and was immediately greeted and offered assistance, I passed initially because I wanted to browse compare and get an estimate on what I remembered my size being (approximately, as it had been a while). When offered assistance again the lady was extremely helpful and introduced me to my best options with what criteria I presented. She unlocked a fitting room for me, I tried on a few and got a better feel for what I needed. She checked in on me again after just a little while and I was able to get her to search for a better fit for me while I waited in the dressing room. Not long after she announced she found what I was looking for and were coming over the top, tried them on and it worked out great (the customer service here was really awesome). :)
They didn't have a lot of options for me because I have a 34 inseam, but they had a ton more options than anywhere else I had ever been my whole life so although I might have preferred a different color they are work pants and I'm going to be losing weight anyways so I'll order with them when I get down to my optimal weight. Most importantly, all (or near all) the jeans here have a non-visible elastic waistband built in. So if you are like me and have big hips with a relatively small waist then this is definitely where you want to shop (they fit...
Read moreThis is the one truly big and tall store in Wichita for men. They have been around for at least 20 years. DXL was formally Casual Male. We 've shopped here since the original location and name change. The staff have always been knowledgeable about the merchandise available. They are very polite, helpful, and professional. If something is not available in the store they can help you get it thru the DXL website. However the store is always well stocked with sizes ranging from 2xl to 8xl. You can buy Reebok, Ralph Lauren, as well as store label Harbor Bay. They also sell shoes! Once you start shopping here you can earn points to reach various levels, which can earn you discounts on your purchases. This store as well as the website is extremely busy during holidays. The stock gets very low and some merchandise sells out. So remember to shop for your big or tall guy early during the holidays. I know some of the local department stores offer some big/tall merchandise. DXL has true sizes for big/tall men. The fit is true to size and the store does have some XLT in some of ...
