Rachael has POOR customer service and shouldn't be working anywhere she actually has to interact with people!
I visited the store on 8.30.18, 1st time in the area. I went to the customer service & waited for my turn. I walked up, smiled, and greeted Rachael by saying, "hello how are you doing?" I asked the question twice before she opened her mouth to say, "I'm busy, what do you?" All while rolling her eyes eith all that black eyeliner around her eyes.
Then another store employee walked up, and she decided to take her focus off what I needed as a customer to go to the office. Never asking us to hold on. It wasn't that busy in the store.
Then Lynn walks up to help us. She smiles in disbelief of what just happened when all I did was greet Rachael by saying, how are you as I do everyone in person or over the phone.
I told Lynn that anyone with a nasty attitude like that shouldn't have a job! I'm sure there are others who would love to take that spot. Lynn, saw how she treated my husband & I. She never came back to help us.
I'm really hoping that it wasn't a race issue... even if she were stressed, which I don't care if she was. It's not that hard to work customer service. I'm sure this isn't her 1st time and it won't be her last, esp if management allows it.
I asked to speak with Kevin or Ken, who I was told were both out. She needs to be fired or maybe go back to bagging so she can reconnect with what true...
Read moreWe stayed in the Dells for a week and I visited the store to check it out. I love a good IGA...and Maurer's is definitely that. The selection of produce and proteins were varied and all looked good. Staples and canned goods were plentiful...although, I did have trouble finding rice. Once I found it, there was plenty, but I did notice there was no signage for it and it was a small section on a shelf midway down. The liquor selection was impressive...and as someone from the south, I'm constantly jealous that you folks have one stop shopping like that.
Two things and I'll be done. Yes, the prices are a little higher than big box stores but honestly, I enjoyed paying a little more because I knew the money was staying in the community. If you want to send all your money out of state, by all means, shop at a Kroger or a Walmart, but if you want to invest in your community, Maurer's is the way to go.
Lastly, I love the fact that I saw Jeff, the owner, in the store. He wouldn't have noticed me, but given how active he is in the comments and reviews section of the store, I was able to recognize him because of his name tag. The fact that he puts his name out there and is visible is a huge plus from this tourist. Best of luck to you, Jeff...you run...
Read moreIt is a small town grocer and as such, has some quirks. As it was explained to me, they have to buy their stock first whereas Walmart stocks and pays for what has sold. Since this store doesn't have revolving inventory the way say Walmart does, sometimes there are hiccups in the quality of say more perishable things such as produce. Luckily, you get a choice in what produce to take, so that issue can be sorted. They also carry things you have a hard time finding like crumpets. If there is a product they don't have, and you're in the local area and shop regularly, they will order the product for you. The owner is incredibly sweet and remembers our whole family. We are always greeted with a warm smile and a "how are you"? It costs a bit more than say Walmart, but you are also paying for the privilege of not going to our local Walmart. They have a wonderful deli and great chicken. Absolutely give this place a pop in if you are in town and want to contribute to local businesses and owners directly. If you're looking for a friendly small town grocer, this...
