If you live in Armenia long enough, you sort of get used to disappointing dining experiences. There is a widespread attitude of: “open a restaurant for the sake of opening”. Camilla is another example of this. Whats worse is that this company owns a few other places in the city that are awesome by comparison. I was expecting waay better walking in.
Camilla in my opinion is an afterthought. There is no real character. No charm no effort. The food was sent out cold. Multiple times. Even the ones they managed to serve warm were bland and lack lustre. The lasagna is an abomination. The pasta needs to be served in a bowl. The metal pans are a cringe attempt “authenticity”, and absorb all the heat from the dish. I’m also doubting that half the menu items are even fresh and not just heated and served. The person in charge of adding sauce needs a smaller ladle or glasses. Every dish is absolutely drenched in sauce. Little bit of care could go a long way in this dept.
Honestly if it weren’t for the fantastic service staff I would have left. I will also add that they apologized in advance when we arrived hinting that they have been having a rough night. But considering the place wasn’t even full Im not so sure why the kitchen was having so much trouble.
I had mixed thoughts about being so harsh. But considering this company is “supposed” to be a well-seasoned and experienced proprietor I decided to speak my mind in...
Read moreThis is not only a stylish and immensely attractive addition to the Yerevan fine dining scene, it is one of the truly authentic Italian restaurants to be found in the area. This split level restaurant evokes late 70’s and early 80’s New York and San Francisco with an emphasis on natural light, beautiful greenery, and an emphasis on executing all dishes flawlessly. The serving sizes here are generous and messy and fun, but always prioritizing flavor. The chicken Parmesan is a revelation, done with a creamier sauce than you see elsewhere and with a pleasingly crisp texture. The chefs took a risk and it paid off. Big time win here. Other tempting items include the (surprising) fish and chips appetizer, the cacio e pepe and the spaghetti and meatballs. The Caesar salad is made with anchovies….in other words, the proper way. The cocktails are exquisite. And don’t forget about the eggs benedict at breakfast. You won’t find a better hollandaise sauce...
Read moreFrom the moment we sat down at Camilla, we were treated like family—thanks to Haig O., whose warmth and hospitality truly made the evening unforgettable. Haig made us feel right at home, and it was clear from the start that this wasn’t just a meal, it was an experience.
The food was absolutely incredible. We started with the pear and prosciutto salad, which was light, fresh, and beautifully balanced. The gnocchi was melt-in-your-mouth perfection—pillowy, rich, and full of flavor. And the ribeye steak? Cooked to perfection, tender, and bursting with savory goodness. Everything was paired perfectly with a glass (or two) of Karas red wine, which rounded out the evening...
