I thought there will be a nice salsa party so went there alone to check it out on Friday, i was properly dressed. Staff were rude, didn't wanted to let me stay, was saying no table, but i could see lot of empty tables, also don't speak English. Manager came forward (can speak English), asked me questions like how many people and where i am from etc. I told him I will sit on the bar and won't occupy the entire table alone (not that it should matter as the place was not that full), so finally he said entry is 1000 dram (2 euro), i agreed as i wanted to check the salsa party in the city. They cant afford to be that choosy, they are a very sub standard place, don't look like they are doing great at all, they should be welcoming guests. The party was extremely sad and pathetic not even worth 2 euro (i am used to paying 10 euro tickets in Tallinn). There were tables across the room centre place is empty where you can dance. There was only 1 guy dancing by asking girls from different tables. And others were mainly watching and drinking/eating and clapping. Music was only bachata, so i asked the dj if they play gonna any salsa, he simply denied. Anyway manager played 1 salsa song for me, i danced with a girl, and people clapped, which was funny for me. It was the most saddest latino dance party i...
Read moreOnce upon a time a great place for some fun salsa dancing became the WORST Yerevan club ever!!! I come to Yerevan each summer and make it a point to visit this pub for some fun salsa/latin dance. Today is Friday and I was looking forward to once again a happy dance of Cuban salsa as I was told a few days ago that there is a Cuban instructor. Oh well... The moment I entered the place I should have just stepped back. It smelled bad! The air was stiff and the staff was rude. You see, I went by myself and the waiter kept asking me if I am alone and if anybody is going to join me - otherwise and it was written all over his fave “he would have to sacrifice the whole table for this lonely person who did not even have friends to come to his bar”!!!! I would have never imagined a bar/pub worker to be ignorant with the raison d’etre of any bar/club - meeting people and mingling!!!! Lucky for him, a group of young men came to the club. He asked me to wait a sec and then totally dismissed me for quite some time; so even the bartender intervened to see what is going on. Needless to mention, I told them what I think of their pub and left for another bar, where one is...
Read moreIt's a good place to have fun. Latino dance parties are organized on Fridays where the tutor from Cuba is dancing with guests to help a little with basics of salsa and bachata. Of course not everybody can dance with him ( it's impossible to dance with everybody). The entrance fee on party days is 1000 drams. In other days the dancing is encouraged in Yankee but without any entrance money. These days without cuban tutor is filled by bartender Garik's crazy dances. He used to help visitors with basics of dances with great enjoy. The prices are not high comparing with another pubs in Yerevan. You can visit Yankee for birthdays and if you want to have fun without a special reason. The toilet is not in good condition.Ventilation is one of the worts among Yerevan pubs. The staff is good. The...
