We had an amazing dining experience at Ahmet’s Turkish Restaurant tonight. 🍱🍱🍱 Our main order was Ahmet’s Famous Mixed Grill, featuring chicken, beef, and Adana skewers, along with chargrilled chicken wings, served with a delightful house-made yogurt and cucumber dip. This dish was undoubtedly the most delicious Turkish meal I’ve ever had in Australia! The meats were perfectly marinated, fresh, tender, and bursting with flavor. It was also generously portioned—ideal for two people, provided you’re not overly hungry. 🍹🍹🍹 For drinks, we tried the Vișne Nektarı (sour cherry juice) and the Lychee Mojito (virgin tropical mojito with lychee and lemonade). The Lychee Mojito was incredibly refreshing, especially in hot weather, and its tropical twist was fantastic. However, the Vișne Nektarı was a letdown—it lacked flavor and tasted more like lightly cherry-flavored water. 🍰☕️🫖 Dessert was the highlight of the night! We ordered Turkish tea and the Baklava Cheesecake, which was nothing short of heavenly. It had a rich, aromatic flavor and a divine pink rose scent—an absolute must-try!
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The staff were incredibly polite and respectful, adding to the overall pleasant experience. An added bonus is that the food is Halal, which is great for those with dietary preferences.
Rating: 5/5 Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic and flavorful Turkish cuisine!
Update: We revisited this restaurant for lunch and had another fantastic experience.
Our order included the Adana Skewers—a delicious blend of spiced minced lamb and beef, served with fire-roasted chili and a refreshing house-made cucumber yogurt dip. We also tried the Angus Rump Beef Skewers, featuring tender beef marinated in fresh rosemary and Turkish spices, paired with a rich, flavorful house-made harissa. Both dishes were incredibly flavorful and absolutely delicious.
The service was impeccable—disciplined, efficient, and paired with a friendly and polite staff that made the experience even better.
This restaurant is a gem, and we absolutely recommend it for anyone looking for great food and outstanding service. We’ll definitely...
Read moreMagic experience from start to finish. This is a really vibrant and happening place with beautiful decor that really transports you to an exotic land. We sat inside to get the full effect of the decor.
Our main waiter for the night (who took our orders) was faultless, being super friendly and attentive, couldn't have asked for better. He was dressed different from the other wait staff, wearing a Ralph Lauren pin-stripe shirt and jeans and was an Aussie, maybe he was a floor manager? Whoever he was he really made the night for us, which is really what being a waiter is all about.
The Turkish looking guy that seated us was not overly friendly but all other wait staff that brought food to the table throughout the night were great. This place has a lot of staff as they have a huge seating area to service. The restaurant connects from one street through to the other with outside seating on both sides and additional rooms as well.
Prices are very reasonable for a restaurant of this quality, and on the scale of restaurants this is not what you would call expensive, especially considering it borders on being a cultural experience as well. When the traditional Turkish musicians and the Belly Dancer came out you really felt like you were in some far off Turkish Bazaar somewhere.
The food was excellent, we ordered some Turkish garlic breads, a Salami Pide (pee-day), a Lamb Skewer plate, a Spinach and Feta Pastry, some Mocktails and shared them all between us. Finished with a desert tasting plate, Turkish donuts and Hot Apple Tea and some creamy Salep's (like a Chai latte). All up came to about $130 for the night. Hey we're not big eaters but this was more than enough for us (two adults, two kids).
If you can't afford to travel to Turkey, this place is almost as good as being there. Highly...

As I walked into Ahmet’s Turkish Restaurant in Southbank, Brisbane, I did not merely enter a dining establishment—I entered a living testament to the enduring soul of Türkiye.
In every corner, in every aroma rising from the kitchen, there echoed the legacy of a people who turned hardship into harmony, and simplicity into civilization. The warm welcome extended by the staff is not mere hospitality—it is the embodiment of the Turkish ethos: to honor the guest as one honors a soldier returning from duty.
The meze platter, adorned with dolma, hummus, and ezme, is not simply a meal—it is Anatolia on a plate. These are the same humble yet dignified ingredients that sustained the Turkish people through the ages, from the steppes of Central Asia to the banks of the Bosphorus.
The Adana kebab, rich in spice and bold in character, reminded me of the strength of our people. It is fiery, yes—but beneath the fire, there is discipline. Structure. Purpose. Much like the Republic we built from ashes.
And the baklava—ah, the baklava—is a symbol of the refinement that Turkish culture achieved when it met the world. It is layered like our history, sweet like our hopes, and delicate like the balance we must always preserve between tradition and progress.
Here in Brisbane, far from the minarets of Istanbul and the plains of Anatolia, Ahmet’s brings forth not just Turkish cuisine, but the feeling of Türkiye. Its greatness lies not only in flavor, but in its fidelity to the heart of a nation that never forgets where it comes from, and always knows where it must go.
Let it be known: this restaurant does not serve food alone—it serves memory, pride, and resolve. It is worthy of the flag and...
