VENTspace — Local services in Brisbane City

Been to a few fantastic artist events here and the crowd is always gorg humans and a welcoming vibe, very accessible. Unfortunately it's just too damn hot inside to bare, we could only spend a short period of time inside at a time because of the heat. With LONG line ups to buy drinks and only room temperature water available on tap and no fans for the performers I feel also more effort could of been made to keep folks cool and hydrated. An artist run initiative in inner suburban Brisbane? Five stars for even trying. I ran the Lava Lodge gallery in Paddington in the 90s, so I know it's hard just getting a lease. The group exhibition I saw was based on a Circus theme, so I just had to step through the soft sculpture Luna Park mouth door. The artists in the exhibition all carried the themes through their two and three dimensional works, and there was ceramic jewellery and a Zine as well. Best wishes, all artists and artsworkers...
