The general hostility and rude attitude of the lady serving front of house was so disappointing Iāve made the effort to create an account to provide feedback.
Whilst the food was Joyful. The front of house approach was simply extraordinary.
We experienced a passive aggressive attitude and our 4 children were even being a delight at this time (this isnāt always the case!)
The lady working at front of house seemed to take pleasure in informing her lovely waitress that they didnāt have high chairs. She seemed disinterested or put out when taking our orders at the counter. Later she went out of her way to tell us that we were not allowed BYO food (for context we ordered 5 breakfast/lunch meals and had a closed snack box next to our bag for our baby). We were made to feel like we were unwelcome, the very opposite of hospitality.
I even enquired if we had annoyed her in anyway. This garnered a shocked expression. Perhaps thereās unawareness, perhaps it was the shock of being asked, Iām not sure.
I was so disappointed with the service I queued up after our meals and waited patiently then politely sought the opportunity to provide constructive verbal feedback out of earshot of other customers, but after standing me to one side and making me wait for far too long ( I couldnāt leave my wife solo parenting our 4 children for the whole of our Saturday!!) I sadly informed her I couldnāt wait longer and was going to have to provide the feedback via a review.
If this was my cafe, I would performance manage and/or re-train the staff member. If I was the owner and this was my attitude, I would spend some time reflecting, getting support or accept my personality type does not align with my role choice.
As I was stood in the corner being made to wait (in what I assume was either an act of nervousness or a power trip) I noticed the joy-fullness of the chef. The fun he was having in the kitchen truely translates into the food they serve.
Such a great location, such joy in the kitchen, such sadness at the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI usually give good reviews to most places I eat at (especially in Brisbane), however our experience at the Blue Basement Cafe or as they self-title themselves āThe Best Cafe in Brisbaneā was very poor. My partner and I dined in this morning at the cafe looking to have a nice breakfast together on a Thursday morning. We decided to get the poached eggs (on toast) and the salmon bagel.
Once we were ready to order we approached the blonde lady at the counter. Her tone was very underwhelming and she didnāt smile at all. She took a few minutes just to order the two meals while an older chef or kitchen hand in the background was complaining about having to cook eggs and yelling at her. Once we ordered & sat down it took 30 minutes for us to receive our food. The poached eggs had half an orange, a single baby tomato, a single strawberry, and two pieces of lettuce on side - none of which were cleaned and the poached egg made my partner feel a bit sick afterwards. My salmon bagel was not very goodābland, smudgy, and lacking any real flavour. Unfortunately, it left me feeling quite sick afterwards as well. Overall, a very disappointing meal, especially considering we spent $40 for it. For the price, we expected much better quality and taste.
However, the only highlight of this experience was the very nice Asian waitress. She was very enthusiastic and polite and we wished the other staff were just as polite. If youāre considering trying out cafes in Brisbane, I would recommend going to a different one - unfortunately, this one did not live up to being āThe Best Cafe...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery disappointed with my experience today. In at Southbank for an event with limited time for lunch. Ordered together with some colleagues BEFORE a huge line-up. Basically our order was completely missed. I was the only one prepared to ask what was happening with our meals. Each time I was told our order was nearly ready and can't you see we have been really busy. Umm - yes I was completely aware of that last bit. I ended up getting my food (a re-heat!) 45 minutes after ordering - with an apology from the oviously nervous and overwhelmed young wait staff. The reason I am posting this today is because I think chef should resign. To add insult to my predicament, he came past all the other tables that had ordered AFTER US and apologised for the delay - completely ignoring me. I ended up finishing my meal alone btw as the others had to keep going. I went up again at the end and explained politely that that despite their apologies, I still felt that they were indifferent and did not value me as a customer, and was yet again told that they had been busy...completely missing the point that they had OBVIOUSLY missed our order. Chef was rude and dismissive and prepared to blame a young man who was placed in an awkward position. Chef - step up...
