We had a delightful lunch at David Hot Pot Brisbane City with our family group of nine, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. This place offers a unique and interactive dining concept that’s perfect for both individuals and groups looking for something different. We tried four different styles of dishes, including both fried and soup options. Each one was bursting with flavour and cooked to perfection. The food portions were generous and well worth the price. One great bonus is that rice is complimentary when you order a fried dish, which was a pleasant surprise. Although the indoor seating capacity is somewhat limited, the shopping centre provides plenty of additional space for dining, which makes it quite convenient, especially for larger groups like ours. The ordering process is straightforward — simply grab an empty bowl from the counter, choose your preferred vegetables, meats, or seafood from the wide variety available, and pay based on the total weight of your bowl. It’s a fun and customizable way to enjoy your meal. The wait time was minimal, around 10 to 15 minutes even during a moderately busy period. You also have the option to select your preferred spice level, which adds a nice personal touch to the experience. Overall, the food was delicious, the environment was clean and welcoming, and the service was smooth and efficient. David Hot Pot is definitely a place I would recommend to anyone looking to explore something new in Brisbane’s food scene. We’ll certainly be coming back again.

Positive: Soup base is tasty, I tried the original and added my own chilli + sesame. +vinegar side dip/concoction. The selection of ingredients is pretty good too, they include fresh marinated meat (five spice beef, spicy beef, marinated chicken, and more), also has the mushroom/pork meatballs, and great selection of the fish balls (there's one with the roe filling which is delicious, cheese fish ball yum). Great noodles options, including my favourite: the sweet potato noodles. Now to the not-so-great: the yutiao/bread sticks/char kway. Now what's with this... It's a big one whole stick. Most of the ones on display are actually 1/2 of the whole stick, and when you pick it, the counter would refuse to process the order and tell you to get a whole one or the other half. That's huge! I don't want to eat just one huge stick in a soup. I don't understand this logic/reasoning behind their refusal. Expensive; you can easily cop $20-$30 if you're not calculative with you put in your bowl. Looks is very deceiving in this case. It may not look much but if they're heavy... Be ready to fork out more than what you initially intended to pay. $3.80/100g Stingy with sauce. If you ask for more than 1 they charge. However they have limited amount on display on the side you can take on your own. (sesame sauce, roasted sesame and chilli oil yum, minced garlic, spring onions, black vinegar and soy sauce).

I'm a regular here but today I'm so upset. I bought a BIG takeaway to bring home to eat with my friends and I of course picked a lot of noodles to go with other toppings as I've always done. I went home and opened the container and there was NO noodle at all??? How could you miss one of the main things that make the meal? And how can customers check and make sure this doesn't happen? Very frustrating as I'm really hungry after a long day at work and didn't feel like cooking, but now will have to cook something to eat with this as it is salty. And it wasn't even as busy as usual when I came. Just checking while eating and there's no veggie although I picked veggie first. The whole meal was supposed to be 1.33 kg. Update: Thank you for replying. I was only handed one big Uber eat bag with the explanation that the normal bag was too small, and no one told me about a second one or gave me a second one. Also, that Uber bag could have fitted two... I know it was an accident but it might have been prevented with clearer communication.

I hope that the manager of this restaurant will read my review. On 4th October 2020, I went to this restaurant to buy malatang because I used to have one before and I really love it. That’s why there is some other malatang restaurant in Brisbane but I chose this one. However, on that day there was a female staff (sorry I didnt know her name and there were a lot of male staff there and she was the only female staff) she served the customer at the counter desk and she was so RUDE to me and my friend. I definitely didnt know why she was so RUDE to us. I was the first customer one finishing my order and I had to wait her to wait for other customer (they came after me) choosing their food instead of serving me. She scorned us which showed very clear on her face and her attitude. I and my friend tried to understand why we had to be treated like that and there was no reason for her to do that. To the manager of this restaurant, I hope you please tell her do not act like that anymore. I know I just one customer, your restaurant has much more than me but with that kind of staff I believe sooner or later everyone will know about this and they will choose other restaurant (definitely me!) instead of the restaurant with RUDE staff like this! I was a restaurant staff before and I have EVER NEVER been so RUDE to my customer, that is unacceptable in hospitality and no one has right to do that to customer even you are tired. They (customer) come to pay for your food not beg for food so PLEASE TREAT US WELL!!!! P/s: I have just read more review and realize that there are a lot of review talking about that GIRL STAFF in your restaurant. Some are a year ago, why do you still let that kind of staff work for your restaurant? Why dont you do any thing to her? Why nothing change since last year? Do you read and know about that issue in your restaurant? Or do you think there is only your restaurant...

I’ve tried David’s hot pot only once after this at garden city. But I have to say BRISBANE CITY DAVID HOTPOT THE BEST!!, you might be wondering why well what’s the difference. 1. The scenery is nicer and so spaced out 2. The workers are kinder and have way better service then garden city and lastley 3. The food was just better idk how but it was. I wanted to try the stir fry and it was ligit the BOMB other than me dying for 10 mins after I finished . But that’s a story for another time. Just a warning for anything that is like I can have a little bit of spice YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SURVIE MILD IF U DO JOT HAVE A DRINK AND MENATLLY AND PHYSCIALLY READY! I am like I can handle spice so it has more of a flavour yeahhhh all I tasted for the first 20 mins of me eating it was just an I gonna die now it’s so spicy. 🌶️ AND IT WAS JIST MILD but it has a nice flavour but just soo spicy . The stir fry could have a little more fbalour but that’s all that needs to change the soup always good and reliable . Toppings always good nothing wrong . And prices so cheap like where can u find places that fil up SOOO MUCH BUT BE SO CHEAP both these dishes were like $30 SO CHEAP RIGHT .So I recommend this place a 9.5/10 Come here but remember to bring a drink. Overal amazing place loevley staff amazing atompshere cheap and amazing food I recommend for eveyone just for those who can’t handle spice...
