If I could I would give it zero stars. My parents ordered the members special (because my parents ordered it the last time they were at the restaurant). But the server didn't know it wasn't available, so the manager came over to let my parents know and to ask them for an alternate order. Which was fine by my mum, however, my dad was in the bathroom at the time, so we had to wait for him to return to be able order (as we wanted the meals to come out at the same time). When he got back to the table, obviously not knowing the situation, he just assumed that the manager could be asking for the member card as that happened last time they were at the food quarter.

So he instinctively opened his wallet to get the card ready. But the manager, with a raised voice said "I don't want your member card I want your order. " My mum replied "excuse me, why are you raising your voice" (mind you, my parents were calm at this point, we were genuinely confused as to why we were being yelled at) and the manager's behaviour came as a shock because it wasn't like we weren't cooperating. My dad just simply didn't know what the context was as he just returned from the bathroom.

Then the manager, named Kayla by the way, continued to say " I am not raising my voice" (while her voice was significantly louder than ours still). It also wasn't busy in the restaurant at the time so there was no need for her to yell out. We told her that there was no problem on our end to order something else since the member menu wasn't available, so there was no need to treat us like that, we were simply waiting for my dad to come back to the table to order alternatives.

After we ordered something else. The manager just walked away, without even apologising. Even when we left the restaurant. There were still no apologies given to us by how we were treated.

It's just disgusting to see that kind of customer service, especially while star casino is struggling to bring customers in. Now I see why. We genuinely just wanted to have a good time, we didn't cause a scene, we were even understandable when they advised us that the members menu wasn't available and even let the server know that it was okay, we understood.

We don't understand why we were treated like that, no customer should be treated like that.

The manager's name was Kayla. I would like someone to contact me about this situation because I honestly felt bad for my parents. We won't be dining here again that's for sure. Another customer lost by the...

Disappointing Service Experience at The Food Quarter – Star Casino Brisbane (20 June 2025)

Last night, we decided to have dinner at The Food Quarter at Star Casino Brisbane. I ordered the $48 steak and requested that the rocket salad usually included be removed. Instead, I asked for it to be swapped with a garden salad, which was listed at $8.50. The server kindly offered to swap it at no extra charge, and I thanked them—at that point, everything was going well.

One of the reasons we choose to dine out is for the overall experience, and initially, that’s what we were enjoying. However, things took a disappointing turn about 10 minutes later when my wife went to collect a hot beverage she had ordered. She was unexpectedly stopped by a manager who insisted she had to pay the $8.50 for the garden salad, despite the server’s earlier offer to swap it out at no cost. She explained what was said, but the manager dismissed it and made her pay the full price.

I was wondering why she was delayed returning to our table, only to learn she'd been caught in this awkward and frustrating situation.

When the meals were finally served, both the original rocket salad and the garden salad were on the plate—despite the request to remove the rocket, precisely to avoid food waste. Sadly, that’s exactly what happened.

As a long-time customer of Star Brisbane, this was one of those “kick in the guts” moments. What started as a positive experience ended up being marred by poor communication and a lack of flexibility from management. It may seem like a small issue, but it’s the kind of thing that sticks with you—especially when the service falls short of the standard we’ve...

I ordered the Plant-powered Parmi. I am vegan, and this was the only meal option. I asked if the parmesan on the salad would be removed or swapped for a vegan option, and was told it would only be removed. I asked if instead of undressed rocket, I could have more chips instead but was denied. I asked if the salad could come separate so my partner could eat it instead of it going to waste. When my food arrived, I was given a regular meat Parmi though the salad was separate. The kitchen apologised and offered to correct themselves. They gave me a buzzer and 5-10 minutes later, a small slice of eggplant with half the vegan cheese unmelted was plopped onto the fries. Regrettably, I ate the meal as I was hungry for a special meal with my partner’s family. The incorrect order was annoying but the real meal was incredibly disappointing, lack lustre, and insulting for $28. I would not have ordered this meal if I had known it would be less substantial and lower quality than a frozen schnitzel from Coles. Everyone at my table laughed at this ‘meal’ and will likely leave a similar review.

I suggest that the specific description of the meal be clarified for its’ ingredients, as I assumed this establishment could muster something of much higher quality, and above simply a slice of eggplant.

The person I spoke to, Peta, was very understanding...

Views are great if you can get a window seat. We went around 11am and it was still quite quiet . Must be in between breakfast and lunch as the breakfast menu finishes at 10am. This gave us plenty of time to join up to the star membership which gives you a good discount on some of the food.. you have to go to guest services after signing up online but it’s literally just around the corner. Staff were very friendly and helpful. You order the food at one counter and then pick it up at another food station. I do think there was a coffee section you could order coffee and cake directly at though. The meals we got were $20 for members and $29 for nonmembers. The portion seemed generous but the food quality was average. We got the roast pork carvery meal and a sweet-and-sour duck . Both of the meats were a bit on the dry side . I wouldn’t complain at $20 for the meal, but if I’d paid $30 ( the non member price ) I wouldn’t be happy. By the time we finished just after 12, there was a lineup starting. So my guess is this place can get busy at peak times.

Well.... I came here at the morning for breakfast before I head to airport. The experience is terrible. I am standing at the counter for about 5 mins, the reception staff is keeping doing her own stuffs and we are the only customer at that time slot. So I dont understand why she doesnt feel like to take the order, as well as the manager see me waiting at the reception as well. I order a coffee and a sausage egg and cheese roll. The staff came from reception and gave me the meal, but she seems like a poker face and mad mood, even i say thank you to her , there is no respond at all. I dont understand what happen on this restaurant in the monring and is that have to give you that bad mood and feel in the morning? Coffee: 7/10, taste good. Egg, sausage and Cheese roll: 8/10, very suprise on the taste. All good. Food are all good indeed and you could have a wonderful view of southbank too.

It's beautiful food and qualified service Yes, you got me right, me and my friends tried this place at the first time it opened. According to the feedback from my friends and myself, of course, it was a bit clumsy in serving food and service. However, we are giving it more tries and see how amazing that they have been improving day by day. They took the feedback nicely and calmly from customers. They make slowly changes but every change they have made, it 's based on customer feedback. The food and the service are now amazing taste with good price. Fast service so that to suitable the super busy lunch time at the central of Brisbane. My recommend as follow: Steak and chips, roasted fillet fish and of course a cup of coffee for a smooth finish. This place is most highly recommended
