Mixed service etiquette. Microscopic food portions. Welcoming female waitress this afternoon who seated us promptly and was attentive at checking on when we were ready to order and accommodating our table really well. We ordered from the snack menu so not expecting large portions, but word of advice - the bread was one crouton size the length of an index finger. Very tasty with the bresola, pickles and salsa verde but essentially a cracker size. Scallops were the size of a half a finger nail each (approx 1cm), 8x miniature scallops in total. Wine was fine, but also a max 125ml when ordering a glass, maybe less. My husband tried to order "one more glass" of the rose, pointing at the one already on the table only for the male waiter (Chinese and didn't seem to understand any English) to try to take it away. When clarifying we are ordering an extra glass, he simply brought an empty wine glass to our table and left. We thought he was bringing the bottle over to pour, but he considered his job done and disappeared! We were the only patrons in the restaurant area other than one other group. Less than 40mins into our time, multiple waiters came over to push the bill on us and insist we pay so they can get on with setting the table for dinner service.... This was extremely rude given that there were over 20 empty tables they hadn't yet started on when they started badgering us and the assumption was we would hurry up and leave. This was right at the time we were just sitting down and trying to enjoy the few minutes of the sunset we specifically chose our table for. The number of times the staff came to interrupt with asking for payment really ruined the enjoyment of the experience. It was unnecessary and stressed us out. I hope there is a manager running this joint who can sort out the etiquette of the staff so that it doesn't end on such a low point for any future patrons (not that many people were wanting...
Read moreWent for lunch for our anniversary we asked for a table at the front. The lady told us the only table available are inside while clearly half of the restaurant was empty with tables available at the front. She told us that part of the restaurant is closed. She told us to come back after an hour, we walked away for 5 mins and came back to make a reservation, in the meantime she had opened that part of the restaurant for another couple!! She then said ok I have a table for you at the front... She sat us and was very unpleasant even after we told her we are celebrating our anniversary. We ordered a couple of beers and after asking to wait 5 mins before ordering food she explained that we can’t wait and need to order now as it is part of their licence!! All we asked was to enjoy our beers before food. I just asked her if she had a problem with us as clearly she was not treating us as everyone else.. anyway we turned Things around with her after confronting her about her behaviour, the other waitress was very very nice and the food was beautiful especially the duck was amazing. The portion was a little small but very very good. We ended up spending $450 for 2 people and didn’t get anything to compensate for the rough start of the service.. very disappointing that they think they can judge people that way. We are local and eat out all the time and have many friends that love eating out, we are always looking for new restaurants to try in brisbane. The experience makes me hesitant to recommend the place as I would be worry they treat them the same way.. service is...
Read moreWe booked the set menu at Aloria for a midweek lunch to celebrate my partner’s birthday, and honestly, it was a knockout from start to finish. The starters were a flavour bomb. The Roast Tiger Prawn with Fermented Chilli Butter was rich and punchy without being overpowering.
The Ruby Creek Mushrooms dish was next-level – earthy, creamy, and clever. That Porcini Cookie and Shitake Marmalade combo? Pure magic. It’s the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite and just smile.
For mains, the Slow Cooked Smoked Wagyu Rump Cap was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with the Bone Marrow Cream adding serious depth.
The Baked Fish was beautifully cooked, paired with Pink Fir Potato and a zingy Lemon Aspen hit. The Oyster Velouté tied it all together like a dream.
The Garden Leaves with Celery Seed Dressing and Pickles were the only disappointing part as it felt not as fresh and sharp.
The Shoestring Chips with Old Bay Seasoning and Tarragon Mayo were dangerously addictive. We could’ve eaten a bucket of those.
But the real showstopper? The Urban Honey Cake. Caramelised Cream and Croissant Ice Cream took it to a whole new level. It was indulgent, balanced, and absolutely unforgettable – the kind of dessert you’ll talk about for weeks.
Service was warm and attentive without being over the top, and the views from the Sky Deck made it feel like a proper occasion. If you’re looking to mark a special moment or just treat yourself midweek, Aloria delivers. Big time.
We’ll be back an ideal place to share...
