Just getting started, so it’s a bit chaotic on a busy Friday night. I’d recommend grabbing a table first and scanning the QR code to order. We just stood in line, and haphazardly found 3 different menus as we got closer to the till, then had to pick a table to have the food delivered to, and within the seconds it took to get to the table, a few non-patrons sat at our table and we had to ask them to pick a different table so we could receive our food when delivered.
Food was alright, but it was $107 AUD for a light, street food dinner for two, with a weak cocktail each.
The music was inappropriately loud, with a handful of large speakers pointed straight at our faces.
The whole complex just opened a few weeks ago, so simple things like getting on and off an elevator was disorganized chaos. The elevator we took from the sidewalk to the 4th floor didn’t come down to the street level where I pressed the button (and it illuminated), we had to walk up a set of stairs to get the other side of the elevator. Then we had to queue to get into another elevator, where a security guard was trying to direct traffic, but the layout was not well planned for this.
Neither the website nor the folks answering the phones had any answers like which restaurants were open, if they needed reservations, or where to find them. The staff on the phones haven’t been to the facility themselves yet, and they haven’t been given any information, they were just reading the same website I was. The fine dining restaurant on the website hasn’t been built yet, so this burger shack is the only food on the viewing deck. The other place seems to be marketed as a night club, but it’s just a little circular bar in a gap beside the burger shack, pumping out its own loud music.
I’ve got dietary restrictions, so I like to find a menu and pick a couple dishes that I can eat, before going through the chaos, but they didn’t have any menus online.
The rating I’ve picked gives them some grace that they’ll sort themselves out...
Read moreIt was a surprising experience - the staff tells you the hot chocolate is more dear than a choc shake, like I did know nothing about what I was ordering 😂 What happened was I ordered the choc shake, paid and waited. After a few minutes, one guy Naiz or Nill? asked me to come inside ' hey, can you come back inside here? ' not polite but ok. I went inside, the supervisor Alex told me they ran out of ice cream. After considering, I decided on hot chocolate. Alex said no problem and started to be busy with his stuff, and Naiz started to make my hot chocolate I guess. Nobody mentioned about the refund. Soni asked him what was the price difference, and he said 'it cost more on hot chocolate and we won't charge you more!' I highly doubted it. it says clearly on the menu that in front of me, the hot chocolate was $5.8, the choc shake was $8.5. It was not much but I didn't like the fact that he told me the other way round and made me feel that I took advantage of it. I question led him, and he called for Alex again.... I got my $1.88 refund, (surcharge on Sunday) but I pointed out that I didn't like the fact your staff told me hit chocolate costs more than a choc shake. Alex explained he might mean the other way round. I understand as a supervisor or a manager he stands up for his staff, but in this situation do not treat your customers like .... I don't want to use that word but that was how they treated a customer. Sorry...
Read moreWe were sitting outside and interacted with three staffers - v poor service from two. The person serving us, Des, was rude and unwelcoming. She said she'd come and clean the table, she didn't (thankfully another staff member did apologetically - taller blonde woman who seemed the only one across everything). Then Des plonked a glass of wine in front of my friend. When we said we'd ordered a bottle she just took the glass without any apology and disappeared. After a while she returned with the bottle, saying nothing. I asked if we could have some water (we'd been seated 15-20 minutes by then) and got a sharp "Just give me a minute" to which I said, "no we'd like water now". She begrudgingly came back with some. After our meal was no better. When a different blonde woman (Amy?) came to clear the table, she wiped the crumbs onto the floor with her hand and then wiped her hand on her clothes! Who does that? My two hospo adult offspring were horrified. Wasn't much better at adjoining bar. They lost so much business by turning away people because they were reserving tables for a function THREE hours later. We also witnessed a barman erroneously tell a customer the closest ferry stop was at UQ! What a laugh. North Quay is arguably closer, but worse, he got the wrong university!!! He was Australian, looked uni age, so how could he not know QUT is at Gardens Point... Such a shame as a...
