When my friend and I entered the store, we communicated with the staff in English, but I was unsure if they heard our conversation in Chinese. I cannot be certain if other Asian customers have experienced the same issue, so I will provide an objective account. Here's what happened: Initially, when we entered the store, there was nothing on the table. I requested a menu, but they told me to scan a QR code. At first, I thought this was the standard service for everyone. However, shortly afterward, we noticed that a Caucasian couple who entered after us received menus, already set plates, and water. It took us asking the server two or three times after we finished ordering and paying to finally be provided with water and plates. Please note that this is not a fast-food restaurant; we chose to dine inside, but the QR code indicated that payment should be made before dining. I speculate that they asked us to pay first because they were concerned about scaring away customers with their attitude. Later on, they informed me that I couldn't order just one portion of grilled meat; I had to add another portion or cancel the order with grilled meat. I agreed to add another portion, and this time they provided me with a menu. After finishing the meal, I paid separately for the additional portion of grilled meat in cash. It is evident that they have a specific service sequence. Finally, I didn't expect to encounter so many issues when simply relaxing and having a meal with my friend on the weekend. When I wanted to pack the leftovers, I politely asked for a container, but I had to remind them several times before receiving one container each time, totaling three containers. However, when I requested a plastic bag for the last time, a lady suddenly snatched a container away from me and informed me that I needed to pay for it. Yes, you read that correctly—she snatched it away! I asked her how much it cost, expressing my willingness to pay, but she repeatedly asked me the same question. I am confused by their behavior because the entire service process was very strange. Perhaps I have been fortunate so far, as the people I have encountered have generally been friendly and possessed basic human decency. I have heard rumors about such experiences, but I have not personally encountered them, so it...
Read moreTo begin with, there was minimal runners. This shows a lack of respect for the staff and their patrons. This is one of, if not the most popular Korean restaurants in Brisbane. There is no excuse for the experience I had here.
They don't use waiters to take your order. You have to scan a QR code to order and pay through a website. This would be fine, but there are limited descriptions to the dishes and some of the dishes are in Korean. I found it impossible to confidentiality order what I wanted. We had a diner with dietary constructions, so they ordered plain BBQ meat. It took us a good 15 minutes to translate and decide on the order. After paying for and placing the order, a few minutes passed when we had a staff member approach and inform us that there was a 2 order minimum for the BBQ meat. This was frustrating as it took us so long to decipher the menu and research dishes to ensure dietary requirements. We asked for suggestions that were met with umms and ahhs. We settled on a non BBQ dish. The food was very sweet and although we ordered a bucket of beers and ice as displayed on the ordering website, the beers didn't come in a bucket with ice and quickly went warm. Our dietary restricted diner had begun to feel sick from the meal that was substituted, so we decided to leave. After our so-so meal, we went to leave when we were shouted at by a man. There was apparently $1 outstanding from our BBQ meat substitution. I expressed my dissatisfaction as the charge should have been dealt with before the meal was paid for, because if the website held more information or if there was wait staff to explain the discrepancy, the website allowed us to order the 1 portion of BBQ meat. I paid the $1 difference. It was then when the man who took my payment told me to go f**k myself.
I was taken back and shocked by this remark. I said, "did you really just tell me to go f**k myself??" He turned away, laughed while he held his first to his mouth. His attitude and behaviour was deplorable. I left in disbelief of what just happened. The man retreated back into the restaurant. There were people who were waiting for a table in the vacinity. They heard his words and where dazed and confused about what just transpired.
I'm still in shock about this experience with the Funny Funny...
Read moreWell, if you read many of the previous reviews it would put you off visiting the Funny Funny Korean Restaurant. However my partner being Chinese and it was dragon boat festival time she asked me about going to Funny Funny for some genuine Samgye-tang or ginseng chicken soup. I read many of the reviews and noticed it was more about poor service and really not much said about the food. So many whimpy whingers who write those poor reviews. Here is what we found. Down the lane off Adelaide street in Brisbane a quaint little area of small resturaunts. We entered FunnyFunny and met with a lovely smile and immediately taken to our table. Scanned the bar code with my phone camera and were able to order in minutes, ( much easier than Coffe Club app. ) the moment we paid the waitress brought plates, drinking water and a stove to our table. After about 15 minutes we had rice, vegetables, Kimchi (napa cabbage and a large bowl of what looked like half a chicken in soup. My China girl is very fussy when it comes to food, she said it was delicous and very generous amount for under $25.00. Well she was so pleased with me and we had a wonderful night which to me is everything. We will return to he Funny Funny Korean Restaurant again in the future for sure. I liked. The food, being able to order without any pressure, could just scan and order more food as needed, after eating we just stand up and walk out with several thanks to staff, the layout was good with some separate areas to eat, the decoration suited the style of the resturant, in Brisbane which in my opinion is one of Australia's most liveable places. As we walked onto the street there was some light rain which was beautiful with the laneway lit up with small resturants signs and with many people huddled up enjoying life as it was meant to be. Just a lovely night for the both of...
