I would like to provide some feedback regarding my recent stay. Please note I sent this directly to the restaurant first but received no response. I attended as part of a group of 7 and in all honesty my experience was very poor and would not recommend because although food was good, service was incredibly lacking and I don’t think this restaurant has the capacity to cater to any groups larger than 4. We arrived at our table and water was quick to be offered however on a table of 7 there was only 1 menu placed down. It wasn’t until the server came to take our drink order we had the opportunity to ask for another one as no one approached us or was even available to call to the table. We didn’t realize as a larger group we would have to order banquet service until we arrived (our mistake) however the banquet options are so incredibly overpriced for the items that you receive and if you have any dietaries is such a hassle to change something. Drinks took so long to come out, we received the first two dishes before them. Food was dropped on table without being presented and it was not done in a way that suited the table dietaries or number of people seated so we had to swap the plates around ourselves. Waiters seemed annoyed to be called to the table when something was needed. Replacements were not brought at the same time as the original dishes which cause some people to just have to watch others eat. There was also a larger wait time mid menu, banquets should flow at all times. At the end we asked for a couple of takeaway containers as there was leftover food and the server disappeared without confirming she had understood what we said and we had to ask someone else for the same thing. First girl comes back and I explain how to split the leftovers as apparently they don’t just give you a container but need to touch up your food and she just makes a face and splits them as she wants so once again we had to change it up ourselves. A plate of oysters were brought to the table as “complimentary” which was quite out of touch considering 2 people couldn’t eat these due to dietaries. For being expected to pay over $1k dollars for our table considering we would have spent far less ordering a la carte, these things definitely ruined our experience and should not...
Read moreWe had high hopes for this restaurant, especially given its strong social media presence and beautifully styled interior. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations due to a series of service and atmosphere issues.
To begin with, our drinks arrived after our food—despite the food itself taking between 30 minutes to an hour to be served. We ordered one main and four sides, yet the dishes were inexplicably staggered. First, only the chicken and eggplant arrived. Thirty minutes later, a small plate of pickles was brought out—oddly served on their own. A full hour passed before the main chicken and rice dish arrived. My partner, who is gluten-free, had to wait the entire hour for his meal while I had already eaten, resulting in us dining separately.
To add to the confusion, his drink was cleared while it still had wine in it—another misstep in what felt like a disjointed front-of-house experience.
The ambiance was also lacking. The music resembled that of a nightclub—loud and intrusive. Coupled with large groups of people talking over one another and the music, the environment quickly became overwhelming. The layout of the restaurant exacerbated this issue. Tables were packed too closely together, with guests’ handbags and chairs literally touching. It felt more like a crowded bar than a restaurant, leaving no room for comfort or conversation.
As for the food, while most of the dishes were enjoyable, the main chicken dish was unfortunately inedible. The bones were dry and brittle, the chicken lacked seasoning, and the wilted greens beneath had an unpleasant odor.
While we did receive a small discount for the delayed service, it hardly made up for an experience that was disorganized and disappointing from start to finish. We left feeling more hungry than satisfied.
If you’re looking for a relaxing dining experience where you can enjoy a meal with your partner in comfort and privacy, this is not the place. However, if you enjoy tightly packed spaces, loud music, and inconsistent service, it may be more suited to your taste.
We won’t...
Read moreFor the price of the tasting menu it wasn't worth it As they don't have a menu on their website it's hard to see 1. The over all price and 2. what is for offer Atmosphere is nice, did have club music playing which makes sense for a bar vibes. I'm allergic to eggplant and asked if I was able to remove it from the set menu or change it. I was able to Change it and that's nice, but then I was told that everything fried would be cross contaminated (understandable) What wasn't was that all options I suggested for a replacement were not in stock for the night (tuna) etc and then I was still served a deep fried fish that I could not eat. We managed to swap out the egg plant for 1 serving in a 2 serving set menu of corn. I honestly would have been okay with either removing it all together or just told sorry no we can't do it. There is no description on what food is fried or not. For the price you're paying here you are better off going to another Japanese inspired bar in Brisbane.
Wagyu goyza = super salty House pickles = standard Soba salad = needs a vinaigrette to cut the sesame seed oil covered over the noodles, also they were slightly overcooked. Kingfish = okay, presented very nicely Edamame = spicy! And smokey very tasty Wagyu meatballs = okay, a bit sweet and salty (needs more balance) Scallops = great Corn = tasty, the cheese would taste better if it was also flame torched like the corn. Wagyu = great, the two different salts and wasabi was a nice touch! The grilled lemon also nice! (Would work so well with Yuzu) Tiramisu = great (I can't review the prawn popcorn but I'm told pretty good) Overall the tasting menu isn't worth your money, but the drinks and some of the raw dishes...
