The original and founding member of the Golden Triangle of takeaway coffees in the lower Eagle Street area. The flavoursome specialty coffee at P&R never disappoints and is quickly but professionally prepared, every time. Once you become a regular, they will start making your usual while you wait in line. There is a healthy amount of seating, though during peak times you will have people loitering around your table waiting for their takeaway coffee, and you may feel like those people who get to the music festival early and set up their picnic rug in the middle of the mosh pit. Everyone kept telling me how great the coffee is there, but since I don’t drink coffee, I decided to try the food instead. The brownie was the smallest piece I’ve ever seen for $6, gone in two bites!! But it was delicious. Then I ordered a takeaway breakfast and paid extra for gluten-free sourdough. There’s always a 50/50 chance that your coffee is going to be burnt because they often serve it at such a scolding temperature, well above the 70C which is the upper limit for milk based coffee.
I’ve also notice the baristas consistently not filling the coffee to the top of the takeaway cup, probably hoping that no one will notice once they put the lid on. This, coupled with the increase in price is not...
