I never do reviews but I just had to. And I’m here to tell the truth! I went this place and asked if they hiring. The one lady i talked she didn’t told me their hiring she just asked me where are you from? and she wrote her name and her phone number said can you come Saturday at 1pm? at first i really surprised because she didn’t even ask my resume and her attitude was not good. But i didn’t have any choice because i’m just a international student who seeking a part time job. So i decided to message her send my resume as a photo but of course she didn’t respond. It was my first trainee which was in Saturday i went to the restaurant and the lady barely remembered me. All the staff working in the restaurant they were like a robot except the lady told me to come Saturday her name is Daisy and the one lady (i think she was a manager or owner)these two are from China. And the shocking part was Daisy told me directly just clean the table please and i was so shocked but i thought okay it’s just busy hour so she can teach me the job and explain everything later. But i was wrong. Few minutes later i was still cleaning the table without knowing anything about the job. I already had a experience at restaurant and cafe’s but all of my employer explained to me what to do and trained me at my first week. At least on my first day they explained everything to me work much easier. Suddenly the lady started yelling at me because i was going to put a garbage in the wrong bag. Like this is make no sense. They didn’t teach me anything and now they just yelled at me and must have been cursing me in their own language. I was so done at this moment so I just needed a one apology. Just one that’s all. But instead of apologizing they started behaving like crazy people. Daisy started dancing and telling me she is single. And no one who worked there said nothing. Because they treating thier staff like a dog, like a robot. At the end neither of them didn’t apologized to me. I don’t have any power to shut this place I wish I could but I do what I have to do. And I don’t want to see anyone hurt like me again so if you are thinking like me just report this place for good and I believe that even small things can make a difference .

Tldr: For the price it's not worth it but the drinks aren't too bad. I hate to write a negative review but it was just bad for how much we spent. Almost 90 bucks for food that was at the quality level of low tier food court. I don't know if it was because they basically running on a skeleton crew. 3 staff members that I could see on a Friday night. 1 Chef, 1 front of house and a 1 more guy in the kitchen who also ran dishes out. The food, was below average. It reminded me of cheap meals pushed out at a food court that's been sitting for a little bit. The tempura veggies weren't completely crispy. They came out a bit soft. The dipping sauce that goes with it wasn't all to great either. It was lacking in flavour and seasoning. The pork egg rice bowl dish I had. The pork was rubbery and thin. Not worth it at all for the price. The beef and tempura veggie sushi roll was probably my favourite thing there but it's not hard when the other dishes I ate was bad. It actually had some texture, good balance of seasoning and taste though it could be better. My friend had the Honey Chicken and that didn't have enough seasoning or sauce over it as well. The place lacked flavour, seasoning and staff. Definitely don't waste your time, money or calories on this place unless it's drinks the drinks weren't bad and quite nice so maybe come for the drinks instead! I had the mojito and my friend had some blue drink that I can't remember the name of.

After reading a few reviews and seeing the scores, I was expecting fresh food and not much more. How pleasantly surprised I was! Ate here before a show one night (Feb 2018) and took our time, and although it was very busy were were not rushed or asked to leave. The place was packed - it was a Saturday night - and even so the waiters were reasonably attentive and friendly. The wine list was better than I expected and pricing was very good, and there is a nice choice of Japanese beers too. And the food was simply amazing! We stuck to lots of different entree dishes to share. They were all fresh, beautifully presented, and very tasty. We ate: tuna sashimi, pork gyozo, chicken karaage, salmon skewers, and Japanese pickles. Will most definitely be back! I had a good laugh, though, at the picture of wine on the alcohol list. I won't comment, but look at the photo I took and you may see what my friend and I saw .... (PS: to those reviewers who complained about the curry just being like a gravy - per a Japanese friend of mine, this is how Japanese curries are typically made ... apparently the meat is cooked until it totally disintegrates and it becomes part of the gravy. So it you're expecting an Indian style curry with chunks of meat then it may be preferable for you to rather eat at an Indian restaurant).

San Kai Japanese Restaurant is a hidden gem that has left me utterly delighted with its authentic and delectable offerings. From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance exuded a sense of calm and elegance, setting the stage for what turned out to be a remarkable dining experience.

The menu at San Kai is a masterpiece of Japanese cuisine, showcasing a diverse array of dishes that pay homage to the rich culinary traditions of Japan. The sashimi platter was a visual and gustatory delight, each piece melting in the mouth with a burst of freshness that transported me to the bustling fish markets of Tokyo. The sushi rolls were meticulously crafted, combining flavors and textures in perfect harmony, leaving me craving for more.

The highlight of my visit was the omakase experience, where the skilled chefs curated a personalized tasting menu that truly showcased their expertise and creativity. Each course was a revelation, presenting a symphony of flavors that ranged from delicate to bold. The wagyu beef, cooked to perfection, was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to sourcing top-quality ingredients.

The service at San Kai was impeccable, with attentive staff who were not only knowledgeable about the menu but also eager to share insights about the origins and preparation of each dish. It was evident that the staff took pride in their work and were genuinely invested in ensuring a memorable dining experience for every guest.

The minimalist yet sophisticated decor added to the overall charm of the restaurant, allowing the focus to remain on the star of the show: the food. With its intimate setting and meticulous attention to detail, San Kai provides a dining experience that is perfect for a special occasion or a leisurely meal.

In conclusion, San Kai Japanese Restaurant is a culinary haven for those seeking an authentic and exquisite Japanese dining experience. From the tantalizing flavors to the attentive service, every aspect of the restaurant reflects a dedication to excellence. My visit to San Kai was a true gastronomic adventure, and I eagerly look forward to my next delightful rendezvous with their masterfully...
