I was excited to come here based on the reviews. However, I was severely disappointed by the lack of service, communication, and taste and quality of the meals and drinks.
Here is a breakdown of why the prices aren’t worth it: Prices are determined by a lot of factors but a few of the main ones are: Service, atmosphere/ambience/setting, food and drink quality, and taste.
a) service - 1star. We walked into the store and no staff members smiled or greeted. We looked at the menu and they didn’t try to talk to us or maybe even upsell their products. They simply said, “are you ready?” They also failed to mention that the hot chocolate was made of dark chocolate. In this part, they could’ve made the customer experience better by 1) communicating this, 2) offering sugar or milk or possibly another alternative. Maybe to go above and beyond, they might want to offer a whole different product that would suit the palette of the customer better.
b) atmosphere - 2star. The cafe is beautiful. However, because there’s no one inside and the energy of the staff did not match the enthusiasm that the restaurant decor conveys, it made the experience very weird and awkward. I almost didn’t want to stay there.
c) food and drink quality - 2star. The food was far from fresh. My partner had a horrible experience. He actually became sick after eating his Big Breakfast. We both felt sick from the sausage that tastes like chemicals and detergent. The bacon also came out cold. The Hot chocolate was lukewarm to cold. The greens looked artificial and the hash brown felt like it was stuck together with canola oil.
d) food and drink taste - 2 star. I ordered the NYC Halloumi Bagel and it wasn’t that bad. However, the bitterness of hot chocolate clashed with it completely and made me feel sick at the end. It wasn’t very strong either. The flavour was lacking. It was bland much like their other “hot” foods. My partner and I felt sick from his Big Breakfast. The sausage tasted of chemicals and detergent. I had to add salt and pepper to make the eggs taste okay. And much like my hot chocolate, everything on his plate was bland.
The price of my Halloumi Bagel was $17 The bland hot chocolate was $5 The Big Breakfast was $25!
Considering the lack in all areas that allow for high pricing, I am shocked that the price of the Big Breakfast goes over $5. It is most definitely not worth it and we won’t be coming again. We haven’t tried the pastries so we understand you might have good reviews from there. However, I will most definitely recommend my friends to not go to this cafe for a decent...
Read moreMy family tried going to superthing for the first time today and it was very disappointing. We ordered an avocado bagel, meatball baguette, apple danish, monkey bread and a pain au chocolat.
The avo bagel was average but to be fair it was simply avocado on a bagel. You can find better elsewhere.
The meatball baguette turned into a sourdough meatball sandwich due to them being sold out of baguettes by lunchtime on a saturday. That's forgivable, the sourdough bread substitute was actually nice and fluffy. Meatballs themselves were unfortunately bland. Didn't get to try the monkey bread at all as that was missing from our order.
The apple danish I ordered arrived to me as an apricot danish. Not what I asked for but tried it anyway. Dough was soggy, no crispness to the danish at all. The danish also included mouthfuls of gelatin which was unpleasant.
Lastly there was the chocolate croissant. Again, no crispness to the pastry and was missing the signature flakiness. This croissant was also strangely soggy and dense.
We won't be returning to this bakery but maybe it was just a bad day for the store. You can certainly find better for the same price or cheaper in west end. I don't recommend ordering online from them at all. Try out the bread, skip the pastry...
Read moreVery rude and unprofessional staff. Food was just acceptable, not worth paying $16+ for an acai bowl that's still frozen (not freshly made) when it come out with low budget fruits, plus the non sense that you have to cope with the staff.
I had brunch on a Sunday, not busy in the Cafe at all. Ordered food and coffee and paid at the counter but coffee didn't come. My acai bowl took almost 30mins to make..
When I asked one of the male staff he said "they are making it will check for you", at the same time when he was walking away. I couldn't hear properly what he said but can hear he said it in a frustrated tone.
He said they missed my coffee order and accused me for not paying for it. I said I did and told him total amount I paid. He brought the receipt over and showed me. He mumbled and said "this is your receipt and see your coffee is not there".
I pointed to the the item on the receipt that says coffee. He then took the receipt away without saying anything... without even apologising....
What a way to start my Sunday morning. Will never...
