A bit of a disappointing experience. You donāt just get your own water here (which is common) but you even have to get your cutlery, salt/pepper, nothing is on the table. But that aside isnāt the end of the earth, its just poor service. What isnāt Ok is when front of house staff write down youād like your poached eggs medium, not runny or hard and they come runny. And to top it off, when they came back out they came with cold toast. Like being punished for sending the eggs back. My friend paid $6 for 3-4 slices of avo on the side, which was a bit steep. A side of avo or mushrooms is often about $4 but if you are going to charge more at least donāt be scabby with the serve. Coffee is not for coffee lovers in that you need an extra shot to even taste it. I donāt think weāll be back, as one thing amiss is nothing, but when it adds up to 4 then thats too many. Maybe it was just a bad day. Lovely venue...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy daughter and I popped into this little cafe this afternoon after I had spotted it while walking around the city and earmarked it for a visit. It was definitely worth it! A beautiful little place; boho decor, eclectic furnishings, funky, interesting, welcoming, lots of artwork on the walls, and a relaxed and homely feel. The music playing over the speakers was just right for the atmosphere, and just at the right volume too. The options for drinks available suited our needs perfectly, and the service was first class: warm, friendly, professional, and had an interesting conversation about England and music systems to boot! There are even books lying around for customers to peruse... one of which provided a magical reflection for the day, which couldn't have been more accurate for us and gave us much to think about! This is my new favourite cafe, and will definitely be...

I had avocado and feta on sourdough with pickled tomatoes which elevated the dish. I asked about them, they were that good. Theyāre made in-house, always a good sign. The ambience at Frankieās is deeply casual, with rickety little tables and bare brickwork walls adding to the ambience. This place was opened by Lara and Chris, owners and creators of the Cabin Coffee in Exeter, my own neck of the woods. Chris is a coffee fiend and business maker, and Lara is the stylist and marketer. What a clever duo. Frankieās is now the plaything of new owners who look set to carry on the great traditions of food and atmosphere in dependable style. Do visit!!
