Mei’s Chinese restaurant — Restaurant in New South Wales

Visited this restaurant due to very good reviews. The food was very good so we enjoyed the dinner. The pricing is very reasonable . Sadly the service was far below expectations. We waited at least 20 min from seating to finally having our order taken. It took 2 goes to finally get a wine chiller. After enjoying the food we thought it best to take home the extra as there was still ample food to take home. No one came near us from serving meals till after finishing. We thought it would be worthwhile to take the balance of food home but after waiting, waiting ,we decided to go. We advised the checkout girl that we wanted to take the excess food home but no one came near us and nobody to ask for take home containers so we gave up. The checkout Asian girl wasn't listening and when I repeated it twice , oh so sorry . That's it. I said are you new to the job , oh yes. She not only did not listen but seriously did not understand what we said. This chinese restaurant apparently is owned by Aussies but has some Asian staff. The food was good but seriously how about some interest and care factor of your customers. No one came near us to ask if we enjoyed our meal, if we wanted sweets or if we wished to take the excess home. Very very poor service. Hopefully these comments may help you improve...

We were attracted by the good reviews but unfortunately this was not our experience. Went with two young and hungry kids for dinner and had to wait almost two hours for any food. Person serving us didnt understand the menu and had to go into the kitchen to ask basic questions several times. For example when we asked what the rainbow sauce dish was like ( is it like sweet and sour? Is it spicy?). They said they would find out. Went inside and came back and said it tasted like "rainbow"...Restaurant only had a few other customers. We asked several times and were just told "we are working on it, it will be soon". We then said could we just have the boiled rice? We were told that it takes time to serve rice because we "make it fresh" (having been in a family who owned a chinese restaurant i know that this is extremely unusual). Rice came out almost half and hour later after asking twice more and it was old/ stale. Ordered a beef dish and they gave us something that was pork. The food I orderd via menulog last night was absolutely not worth the huge amount of money I paid! The garlic king prawns had mainly green capsicum, beans and onion in it. The prawns were ok but only 6 large ones, I think they forgot to add a few more! Grrr, the sauce wasn't very pleasant and it was lucky to have 1 stem of brocoli and 1 baby corn. There special fried rice is a joke hardly anything in it more peas then anything! The combination omelet tasted bland and there was hardly any meat through it. Im so disapointed because last year the food was pretty reasonable what happened? I'm sick of some restaurants like this one putting cheap veges in these dishes such as frozen veges when we are paying top $ for their food, it's not on and gone are the days when you would see authentic chinese vegetables in these dishes. I get we are all finding it tough with high cost of living but atleast give us decent food for the high price we pay. I'm now done ordering from them again I will try to find...
