It was my first time dining at Beppi’s, and the atmosphere instantly transported me back to a charming restaurant I visited in Lago di Como. At first, I was a bit skeptical—the food didn’t immediately impress me. But oh, how wrong I was. Beppi’s completely won me over.
We started with complimentary bread and breadsticks served with butter, a delicious smashed olive tapenade, sun-dried tomatoes, and a surprisingly good chili oil (yes, Italians make chili oil too!).
For entrée, we shared the crisp zucchini flowers filled with ricotta and porcini mushrooms—three pieces total. I do wish there were four instead, just to make it easier to share. The flavor was lovely, though I think a slightly creamier ricotta would have made them even better. Still, a strong start.
For mains, I had the Gamberi with octopus and prawns in a rich red sauce—absolutely delicious. We also ordered the gnocchi, and I have to say, it was some of the best I’ve ever had. So soft, so pillowy—just perfect. Both dishes came in generous portions.
On the side, we ordered the broccolini. It wasn’t anything special, but a good choice to balance out all the richness with some greens.
We enjoyed a lovely bottle of red wine—great selection of Italian varieties. No dessert this time, because for once, I was truly full. But we did have coffee, which was excellent. The surprise highlight? The little butter cookies served with the coffee. Oh my goodness—absolutely divine. I’m still trying to place the scent and flavor, something nostalgic from my childhood. I don’t know if they’re made in-house or supplied, but I’d happily buy them by the jar if I could.
Overall, Beppi’s was a wonderful experience. The service was outstanding—our server was incredibly patient and attentive. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu. Highly recommend if you’re after authentic, satisfying...
Read moreHad a reservation for 11 people. Only 9 could make it as 2 had to isolate due to covid.
Bill was $1,300, they wouldn’t honour the deposit for the two people who didn’t show.
For perspective, the deposit was $10 per person. It just really leaves a sour taste.
Food was good, service was ok, but the way we were spoken to at the end was awful.
Do not recommend, it’s the little things.
Edit to respond to the owner: It's this attitude that causes the these kinds of reviews from people.
Upon arrival we did say we would only have 9 of 11 people, that was your opportunity to to say "So sorry, we will still need to charge the deposit of 11" - at that point there is no problem - however, instead what was done, was that you only put $180 deposit on the bill, instead of putting $200 and then adding or adjusting the lines to make up the other $20. You can't just adjust the deposit we paid, you can add a charge, but you can't say we paid $180 when we paid $200.
Additionally, no one informed us of this, if you just had the courtesy to tell us there would have been no issue what so ever, it's only $20. It's not the monetary value, it's the way it was handled.
I stand by my one star review based on the terrible customer experience provided, your food was great, but this was just handled poorly and was totally avoidable by just communicating. Additionally you could of not tried to make our table feel like the bad guys for questioning why the bill did not match the deposit.
Not to mention, for your staff, we inevitably then did not leave the tip we otherwise would have - we would have all given at least $15 per person as a tip, but of course when you make a table of 9 people feel like they're in the wrong, you lose that tip.
In the long run, it cost your establishment (or maybe just your staff?) Over...
Read moreTerrible experience. My party of 8 made a reservation weeks in advance for our christmas dinner in one of Beppi's private rooms on 19 December 2020. We paid the deposit and received confirmation from the restaurant that we secured the room. We even called 3 times and on each occasion spoke with the staff prior to the date who confirmed we secured the room.
Upon arrival and to our disappointment the staff informed us that the room was already booked out and we were shown to a table in the main dining room instead.
It was confusing for us to say the least and deeply disappointing, considering that the only reason we decided to come here was to have a private dinner party in one of their beautiful rooms.
The staff was less than helpful when we enquired as to why we were given contradictory information. They instead told us that they are very popular during the festive season, and even had Mark Wahlberg dining with them a few days ago, which was unhelpful and came off as arrogant. We had no choice but to dine with them due to the lateness of the hour and the rain outside, but needless to say, this experience put a huge dent in our spirit.
I made a complaint via email after the dinner and did not even receive the courtesy of a response. This is not the way any restaurant should treat its customers. I will definitely not be returning or recommend this restaurant for the dreadful customer service and...
