Ordered the $12.50 hotdog meal that included a hotdog, 2 Cinnamon donuts and a drink. I paid for the meal then was told there was no cheese left for the hotdog after it had been made and handed to me. Ok right. Then I didn't receive my donuts so when I asked about my two donuts I was told they had no Cinnamon donuts left and that it'd take 15 minutes to make more.... Ok right. I couldn't wait 15 minutes for the donuts and asked if I could pick from the display donuts. I was told I couldn't choose a big donut, but I could choose from the single small glazed donuts (I wasn't allowed two), none of which I wanted. I walked away with a bad hotdog that was direly in need of the lubrication that cheese would have provided, and a single glazed donut that i didn't even want and didn't finish. The drink I opted for was a milkshake and it was a standard cottees syrup shake - fair enough for the price and no complaints there. But the dog and the donuts were not what I wanted and the service was unfortunately without credit. I believe that if I received the dog with cheese and the Cinnamon donuts I wanted that I'd be happy especially at that price, and the staff member felt pretty bad about the situation (which they allowed to happen in the firstplace by not telling me they didn't actually have half of my order in stock). I just think this place really needs to focus on staff training and at the face of it it's pretty absurd that 'Donut King' doesn't actually have the doughnuts they're...

Today however, I want to thank the Gen Z employee at the doughnut shop whose failure to grasp polite small talk at the point of sale motivated me to pivot and leave rather than buy a dozen cinnamon doughnuts. Lolz. As I said "You know what, don't worry about it" and turned and walked away they desperately called after me, "No no no, what do you want?". Too late rude person. No wonder Gen Z is more depressed than any previous generation. Studies show small talk interactions at retail and hospitality points significantly contribute to our happiness. Meanwhile, I have read (and observed) that Gen Z intentionally refuses to participate in the "How are you" style interactions. Rude. Look, the point of those phrases is not to gain an in-depth understanding of character, they are greetings designed to acknowledge that we are both humans who have feelings and experiences. When they are dismissed and ignored it is hurtful and rude.
My waistline and bank account are happier for the rude employee today tbh, so thank you.
Meanwhile, the coffee guys at the cafe across the road from me are now giving me free Italian lessons as we chit-chat all the time (and I help them with English). Funnily enough, interactions with them make me happier and I am a return...

I've been 2 days in a row, and both days were equally as bad.
First time I gave the benefit of the doubt, maybe they were having a bad day.
Today, waiting a few minutes and being ignored completely and purposefully draws the line.
