Kanzo Parramatta delivers a solid Japanese dining experience, blending a cozy atmosphere with well-executed dishes that highlight quality ingredients. The interior design is warm and inviting, featuring wooden paneling and stylish lighting that create a relaxed yet vibrant setting. The open kitchen adds authenticity, allowing diners to see the careful preparation behind each meal.
The ramen offered a deeply flavorful, well-balanced broth that was rich without being overly salty. The noodles were perfectly cooked, maintaining a firm chew, while the toppings, including green onions, bamboo shoots, and wood ear mushrooms, provided great texture. However, the soft-boiled egg was slightly overdone, missing that perfect gooey consistency. The biggest disappointment was the chashu—only one very thin slice of pork, which felt more like a garnish than a substantial topping. For a bowl at this level, an additional slice or a thicker cut would have elevated the dish. Despite this, at $17.50, the ramen was reasonably priced, making it a satisfying option overall.
The sushi rolls were fresh, well-executed, and generously portioned. The soft-shell crab and avocado roll was particularly enjoyable, offering a great balance of textures—the crispness of the crab, the creaminess of the avocado, and the soft chew of the rice worked harmoniously. The salmon and avocado roll was also fresh and simple, allowing the quality of the ingredients to shine. However, at around $20 per plate, the sushi felt expensive for what it was. While the portions were fair, it’s something that would be more of an occasional treat rather than a regular order.
The croquettes were a delightful side, fried to a golden crisp with a crunchy exterior and a smooth, creamy interior. They weren’t greasy, which showed good frying technique. Simple yet addictive, they added a nice contrast to the rest of the meal.
Overall, Kanzo Parramatta offers high-quality Japanese comfort food with excellent broth, fresh sushi, and well-executed side dishes. While the lack of chashu in the ramen and the slightly overdone egg were minor letdowns, the flavors were strong, and the experience remained enjoyable. The sushi was delicious but leaned on the pricey side, making it better suited as a treat. A few small tweaks, such as more generous ramen toppings and slightly more competitive pricing on sushi, could elevate the...
Read moreSince the shop was full I had high hope with the shop. The experience I had wasn't the worst, but was still bad. I ordered noodle and sushi. For the noodle, I'm not sure what they were trying to achieve, but to me it felt like they were trying for world record on how much they can overcook the noodle and still have them maintain their shape. For the sushi roll I think it's name was "magma" something. It looked like it had flame torch cooked fish on tip, so I expected it to be warm. But the tuna that was inside was cold. So can I guess that they had the fish on top already prepared before and placed it on top? Also it might be me, but on the menu it showed the sushi to be spicy. To me it didn't have any hint of spiciness. For the servicethey just cone by and just put the food on table without asking if it was for me or my friend. Also they just come by and collect the empty dishes without asking us is it OK for them to collect them. From my experience I'm not sure if I'll be visiting again anytime soon. Unless there was absolutely nothing else to...
Read morei have always enjoyed my experience at this restaurant, today i have come to eat and was told ‘ they cannot take orders physically’ the man had told us since its the ‘FUTURE’ they will not be taking orders through employees. Who by the way are paid to be taking order and doing a WAITRESS JOB.
even after asking the man kindly to order through him as the order was complicated and i have dietary requirements he again declined and said use the QR code rudely. This Interaction was not nice and i have now been thrown off. coming back. this concept of the FUTURE is not very good as some people don’t have phones or data.
The food has also gone done hill it is not nice, not fresh tasting and the temperature ebo is DRENCHED IN OIL. The chicken katsu roll is dry and not nice tasting. The salmon roll was burnt and the roll itself tasted mushy and gross.
