We tried the Mapo Tofu with Minced Chicken and Sichuan Spicy Fried Rice, and both dishes had their strengths:
Mapo Tofu: The dish was well-seasoned, delivering the signature balance of spicy and savory flavors. However, the portion of minced chicken was noticeably sparse, which slightly diminished the dish's richness. Additionally, the tofu was cut into smaller pieces, which made it less satisfying to bite into; larger chunks would have provided a better texture. Sichuan Spicy Fried Rice: This dish stood out with its fragrant aroma and subtle spiciness. The seasoning was balanced, enhancing the overall flavor. The fried rice paired excellently with the provided chili oil, which added a punch of heat and depth.
Oh Dumpling captures the essence of Sichuan cuisine with its bold flavors and fragrant dishes. While the Mapo Tofu could benefit from a more generous portion of chicken and larger tofu pieces, the Sichuan Fried Rice was a satisfying highlight. Don’t skip the chili oil—it truly elevates...
Read moreBit dismal. I'm being generous with the 2 stars. Restaurant itself looks dirty, plain, really basic and a funny smell. No ingredients, lack of flavour, servings inconsistent. Sechuan tofu Rice container wasn't full. Noodle container full but literally 3 baby spinach leaves, egg and noodles. Seriously, vegetarian fried noodles with 3 spinach leaves and not even fried? Really poor. Lacking flavour in both of these dishes (couldn't taste any sechuan). If I'd still been nearby when I opened this, I would've asked for a refund. Just a scam! The vegetarian buns were nicest thing of our meal. Oh and they charged me for soy sauce, for chilli sauce AND a Sunday 10% surcharge that wasn't mentioned online or on their menu or front display window. Obviously wouldn't...
Read moreReviewing again as this restaurant has changed location and ownership since my last review. The dumplings are still the best in Geelong. The service is on point and better than other restaurants that charge twice as much for dumplings half as good. The new decor is welcoming and trendy towards a modern theme. Parking in the new location is so much easier and less worry some than the Riff Raff around the bus stops. The only negative feedback was the disappointing lack of veggies on the vegetarian sechuan cold noodles. More bean sprouts, green beans, bamboo shoots and some tofu and this dish will easily exceed its counterparts. Happy to visit back again to see how this outstanding restaurant develops and maintains its...
