I came here excited to enjoy some authentic Austrian food, but unfortunately the entire experience was ruined by the grumpy and inattentive service of one waiter, Mr. Roberts. From the start, I asked if I could order the local sauerkraut as a side dish with another meal instead of the veal hotdog it was paired with. His response was a flat “no,” which already felt odd. A minute later, I asked another waiter - who was much more accommodating - the same question, and was told “of course, that’s no problem.” Naturally, I cancelled my first order and chose another dish instead. When my food finally arrived, it turned out to be the wrong dish entirely. Mistakes like this can happen anywhere, and I wouldn’t have minded if it had been handled gracefully. Instead, Mr. Roberts barked at me, claiming it was my fault because I had “changed my order three times,” which simply never happened. Instead of taking responsibility, he doubled down and excused himself by saying he had been working 10 hours. A basic apology seemed to be too much effort. The rest of the staff did their best to apologise for him and make things right, but one person’s negative attitude overshadowed the whole evening. Dining out should be about enjoying good food, not being blamed or belittled by the person meant to serve you. A real shame, because the restaurant has potential - just not with this kind of service.

The food might be even good (I found my Cordon bleu average), but the service is what makes the place bad. This restaurant was recommended to me, so I didn't look at the reviews. There were two waiters, a guy in his 50s and a younger one. The younger waiter seemed bothered about everything: when I asked him for food recommendations, when I asked him about the beers (they were all local beers and I didn't know any of them). My order arrived quickly, which was good, but no one came to check back how the food was, and had to wait quite sometime to get the bill ( half of the tables where empty, so they weren't extremely busy). The "cherry on the cake", was when the waiter asked me how much I wanted to leave as a tip. Since I thought the service wasn't up to expectations I said 5%. My original bill was €23.30 and I was charged €26...which is more than 10% tip. At this point I had already been charged and I didn't really care about a couple of extra Euros, but I told the waiter that is not nice to ask a customer how much they want to leave, and the charge them more. He looked at me buffled and mentioned it was 'the machine's fault' (note that he entered the final amount manually). He walked away without even apologising...

Came here for lunch on a Saturday, without a reservation and we were lucky to get a high table since they were full booked! Tip: book ahead to guarantee, as this place is worth it! We came here since i read about the Schnitzel and it didn’t disappoint. 2 nice big pieces with a potato salad - sauce it is cooked in is amazing. The waiter asked if we wanted cranberry sauce as well since it’s traditional, and we obliged but they do charge you extra. All is all was amazing though! This and a nice crisp beer… what more could you want! Waiters are great, friendly and service is fast. Great place!!

I sincerely cannot recommend this restaurant anymore. We've lived in the area for years and used to visit regularly, but our recent lunch experience was extremely disappointing. After waiting over 45 minutes for two schnitzels, I politely asked if our order had been forgotten. The waiter responded rudely and aggressively, saying, "This is not McDonald's – everything is freshly prepared."

This reaction was completely unacceptable. His tone implied we were being unreasonable or didn’t understand how food works. We don’t expect fast food service, but we do expect basic respect—especially as loyal, long-term patrons.

Even more upsetting: another guest, an Austrian man, had also waited 30 minutes for soup. When he complained, the same waiter apologized to him, while we were dismissed.

We’re genuinely disappointed that such behavior is tolerated—especially in 2025, in a central Vienna restaurant. Professionalism and equal treatment for all guests should be...
