Let me start this review by absolutely praising the cuisine, as well as apologize in advance for the lengthiness of this review. The kitchen here is remarkable and I can honestly vouch for the Schnitzel as being the best I have ever had in Österreich (a now resident , and long time frequenter of this beautiful country). Now, onto the actual review ...

As previously mentioned, I have been living here in Austria for about a year and a half while playing soccer here. It was January 2nd when I actually happened to stumble upon "Weibels Wirtshaus". I had some very dear friends of mine visiting all the way from Texas and we were looking to pop into a restaurant to grab a snack and a beverage so that our lady friends could warm up a bit. Upon entering the restaurant I politely asked, in German, for a table for 4. I also prefaced to our initial server that we would not be long and only planned on having a snack and adult beverages. The middle aged manager came to take our order and we were delighted to oblige. Now this is where things began to teeter toward a negative experience. You see, I am a very modest man who is founded on proper behavior and great manners. It happens that I also carry a black card and fantastic cuisine is a sort of guilty pleasure for me. Upon ordering a round of soups as starters (while noticing many awards for their kitchen) we decided to order two main courses to split between the four of us. Upon completion, our server commented in english "so there are four of you and you are only ordering 2 courses"? I responded, "that is correct". It was obvious he was clearly perturbed by our actions and without another word gathered the menus and strutted off. Now having worked in the industry in my college days, I could understand his lack of excitement. After sometime the ladies wine glasses were empty and they fancied another glass. Our server briskly walked by our table a number of times in-route to the ONLY other table in the dining room. Finally my friend, in her sweetest voice, said "excuse me, can we please have another glass of wine". After repeating the order he was off again. By this point I was growing annoyed with his lack of effort or care. The only other server on hand, a younger man probably in his 20's delivered the food and was more than cordial. After finishing my soup and moving on to the main course I had emptied my beer. I placed my empty glass on the edge of the table in plain sight to reassure that I wasn't meagerly being biased. He walked by 7 times and not once did he ask if I would like another drink. It was clear that he was over us as patrons and desired to be ridded of us. After finishing our meal and maintaining the same thirst with no beverage I politely asked for the check. He brought the check with the total for everything. We were okay with that and offered two separate cards to split the bill in half. He refused to do the simple math and brought a pen instead. After discussing who wanted to pay what, given it was an odd number and we were wanting to include a very undeserving tip, he snatched the bill and wrote the cost in exactly half as if my accountant friends were incapable. This was infuriating. If I could speak the language better I would have had a few carefully constructed words with the individual but I open out.

In the end, it was hands down the worst dining experience I have ever experienced in all of my days, especially here in Austria. If I were the GM of this restaurant, he would be relieved of his title immediately. Completely...

We have such an expression: “The theater begins in a cloakroom”. And we could say pretty the same according to the restaurants that we used to visit sometimes. So when you entrance this restaurant probably you’ll be disappointed with the very beginning. We had a reservation at 7:30 pm, but we came a bit earlier , around 7 pm. We had not a huge company 3 adults and 1 little girl, my daughter. So the owner or manager was so unhappy that we came. But the restaurant was almost free!!!! Just couple of tables were occupied. So we asked politely if we could have a sit, coz baby started to have some food. So he sighed so hard , that I was a bit shocked. So we went to have a sit. And I saw that is just few peoples in the second floor occupied just ONE table. I asked for the baby chair, but the waiter decided to tell me, that my daughter is big for it, I don’t know , how he decided that, coz she just turned 3. Her body shape is small, so she feels pretty comfortable in special chair instead sitting with us, when the table is near her nose. Any way. We waited about 40 min for our food. The glass was broken. We try to ask WiFi access couple of times. And it was just one time when the waiter tried to be polite, when he asked about the tips, which I defiantly didn’t give to him!!! I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Go to Plachutta restaurant with traditional food , or if you want something in this aria new Stefania , go to Do...

What a great dinner experience we had: nest meal in our time in Vienna. We ordered and shared goulash and a typical pork steak called Schweinsbraten paired with two glasses of delicious Cuvée wine. We were excellently served in our pretty table that was located outside in their terrace. The environment was so lovely and romantic. The food was exquisite and the portions are quite big! When we will travel to Vienna we will definitely come here again. Also, we ordered Kaiserschmarrn that was served in a pan, it was deliscious but we didn’t manage to eat it all as it was abundant. Really, really recommend the place. We didn’t reserve our table and were lucky to walk in and find one ready, but I would recommend making a reservation...

This is an old Viennese favorite of mine, since 2005. They maintain high quality food and good service. They serve old Viennese classics, and also some modified, interesting dishes. Fresh and seasonal. Soups are delicious year round. Surprisingly fresh, fluffy Kaiserschmarrn desert (house made). The wine list is extensive and exceptional. Prices are somewhat above average, but appropriate for the place. Outdoor seating also available

Business dinner, sitting outside in a not too warm Viennese spring evening. The food was pretty good although the menu does not offer too much unless you like MEAT. I had a shrimps cocktail (which had a tad too much sauce) and a beef tartar as a main which was pretty good. The others seemed happy with their choices. All in all a fine evening. Credit cards accepted, reserving a table advised as the space outside is pretty limited.
