This is in the top 5 of bests things I have ever eaten in my life. Think about that, top 5 all-time, all foods, everywhere. Here's what you're going to do. You're going to go here at about 11:20 am to avoid the lineups. You're going to ask the guy for some kind of shawarma, these are the wraps. You don't need a large, just get the medium. He's going to start making it for you without you paying. Watch him. He is a wizard. At some point he will look at you, waive his hand over your meat on pita, and say "Everything??" And you are going to say yes. He's asking about toppings and sauces. Don't ask what the options are, just say yes. He'll finish making the thing, wrap it in paper, and confusingly put it on a panini press. He may ask you to pay at this point. He may not. Once it's been on there for 2 minutes, he'll cut it in half and give it to you. Remind him you need to pay. Then eat the thing. The combination of thin pita and paper and panini press makes the pita layer impossibly crispy and tender at the same time. When you peel the paper off, not all of it will come off the pita. Just go with it, it's harmless and kinda good. Think about all the things that make food taste good, and every single one is in this insane grilled wondrous thing you have in front of you. Salty, meaty, acidic, creamy, soft, chewy, crispy, sweet, a hint of spicy, herb-y, aromatic, everything. Not every bite is the exact same. This guy, the guy who runs this place, has figured out how to put all those things in one parcel of food, but all in perfect balance and harmony with each other. It's kinda hard to get your head around, it's like the hand of the cosmos making something perfect. Also the falafel is the best anywhere, on trip #2 get the falafel combo plate. All subsequent falafel you will eat in life will taste like burnt sand in comparison. 10/10 for this place....
Read moreLooking for a place for good food in Calgary, a place I am not familiar with, is difficult but a restaurant named Maraj stood out along a busy tramway. I was fortunate to have found this restaurant that had middle eastern food like Shawarma and falafel. Along with my family members I ordered 2 Beef and rice platters, large which came with salad, hummus and bread; one order of beef Shawarma. The food was delicious and we were already planning to come back on Sunday but the owner said they were closed on Saturday and Sunday. We also tried their Baklava which owner Adel said was prepared by his wife. I must say I haven't had baklava that tasted so good. This place is a moderate size restaurant with sit-in tables. I am so happy to give this place 5 stars as they deserve it. Try this place and you won't be...
Read moreI put in an order at 11:10am this morning for 9 people. The expected delivery time was 12:20pm but it kept getting pushed back until 12:40pm, then 1:05pm, then more than 2 hours later to 1:20pm, and THEN finally at the end my ordered was CANCELLED by the restaurant. The 9 of us were excited for lunch and we did not bring any lunch because we were expecting to have delivery. We are extremely upset that this happened. To be waiting OVER 2 HOURS until it was passed our scheduled lunch time ONLY for the order to be CANCELLED at the end is TERRIBLE customer service and I would NEVER try ordering from this place again. If you knew you couldn't fulfill this order then a heads up would've been appreciated so we could...
