So I had a Lobster Roll in Luneburg, Digby and then in Halifax at Dave's Lobster

Hands down Dave's was the best by far. So good we had it twice within 24 hours actual 16 hours..lol

Lunenburg restaurant served it on a non toasted bun and it was just chunks of lobster in mayo. Digby was better then Lunenburg with more flavour in the mayo.

But Dave's was at a whole different level. The first time we went the have the mayo version and the butter and garlic version. After experiencing the first 2 mayo lobster rolls I was reluctant to try it again but the best part about Dave's is that they make a Half and Half lobster roll which I did.

The mayo half was so tasty and delicious BUT the butter garlic side was out of this world and nice and warm and OH I forgot to mention they butter and toast the bun on both sides.

I have to say the half and half option was great to allow those confused which to get to try both without having to buy 2 separate ones.

The next day we went back and got the full butter and garlic LR. Oh man it was soooooooo Goooood.

I know a lot of people complain about the cost and I hated it too but this review is for the food itself.

The cost is a bit much but since I was on vacation I tried to not make it bother me as much as it normally would. It is located amongst the water front shops so I can see why it cost so much. It is the touristy area of all touristy areas and once there you know how the pricing increases.

We saw a lobster key chain at the Halifax waterfront shop double the price for the same one we purchased else where.

Oh yeah you do.get a bag of chips with the LR..lol

Besides the price you have to try Dave's...

Their half n’ half ($29 based on the market price) was the ideal way to sample two of their creations, a roll made with cold and warm lobster fillings:

The chilled version, dubbed the local, was tossed with mayonnaise, celery, and chives. I found it was refreshing for a hot day and given the ingredients were less flavourful, the lobster’s sweetness was more pronounce. Yet, there’s something about the some fancy or warm version that was tastier. Who doesn’t like garlic butter with lemon and chives thrown in for freshness? It was delicious, but a tad overcooked so the lobster was chewier than the cold version.

If you’re hungry, one roll will not be enough. Luckily, it comes with a quarter spear of pickle and bag of chips (they were out of coleslaw and potato salad by the early afternoon). Not necessarily filling, but enough to leave you satisfied.

If you can hold off on diving into the roll, I recommend walking further down the harbourfront to find a table away from the main food area. While there was tables available in The Salt Yard, it’s also a seagull pit. Finding a clean table can be difficult and you’ll have to watch out for a wayward wing brushing close to your head. Not exactly the most relaxing way to have lunch, even if the lobster...

I have to say this is the go to place for a melt in your mouth lobster roll, price is average I would say as lobster is not cheap, plus you truly get what you pay for at this little place on the harbour, they also include a free bag of chips, which is a nice touch. I will go back on future visits to Halifax in the summer. My only regret was not taking a picture as I could not wait to dive in to what in my opinion was the BEST lobster roll I’ve ever had. How could you go wrong with a lobster roll that has chunks of claw meat in it. The wait time is normal I feel, as they are made to order & its only a small building on the harbour & it was very busy the day I was there. I had the half fancy & half regular lobster roll, both halves were melt in your mouth delicious, however the fancier half was above & beyond to die for delicious. Dave’s Lobster, has a life long fan in me. Keep up the great work. I can hardly wait till next summer, as I will be stopping by during my travels in Halifax, when I go see my...
