Was very excited to try this place after reading all the reviews but I have to say I wasnât impressed at all.
From the moment we walked in, the staff werenât welcoming at all. Super slow service. One waitress came and poured us water but then disappearedâŠ. We were seating for more than 20 minutes just for someone to come and get our order
We finally ordered our drink to the actual bartender who was passing by⊠but no one was there to get us a second
The atmosphere was good, the drink was good, but the service ruined everything! It was the worst I ever experienced.
I never felt this much unnoticed in a bar⊠after a drink, we decided to leave since no one came to get our order for the second roundâŠ
We asked for the bill. But the waitress was laughing and hanging our with the bartender instead of getting our bill. She delivered other peopleâs drinks and explained what was in their drink (something nobody did for us, they just put the drink on the table and left, not even a simple âenjoyâ) and ignored us for another 30 minutes!!! I had to actually walk up to remind her of the bill but still took her another 10 minutes to bring it.
Overall, will not visit again. The service was absolutely terrible and I never had this experience at any other bar/restaurant in Toronto!
There are much better bars with better staff were you at least feel welcome. Donât waste your time⊠the staff clearly donât know what a cocktail bar is when they are not even around to take your second order of drinks, no apology, no manners, just...
Read moreI have interesting things to say about this place. My first time, I was at the front of the house area and served at the bar(Mother Tongue). Good asian style cocktails, nail the acidity, freshness, flavor, strength, and capture the breeziness of SEA. Technique and skill behind the duck foie gras dumpling was great. But not sure if foie gras and goes well in a dumpling, just my preference. Interesting experiment nonetheless. However, service was a little cold, but its understandable since I was later told their backend systems were down which can be stressful for any business. Their fried rice is on my list, as it smelled gorgeous and just had that mouth watering presentation.
Next time, the downstairs service was a lot more pleasant IMO. We pretty much went with the barman's suggestions based on our flavor profile, and were extremely impressed. Felt like an AI generated cocktail from a word cloud had created it, they were scarily spot on for being relatively on-the-fly. Edwin and his mentee were charming and providing genuine insight into the business and their experience, which was cool to learn. Chelsea, who I believe is the manager, was super fun to talk to, even though its not really in her role, went out of the way interact with us. Danke schön for the experience, and I am happy to recommend both...
Read moreOk leaving a review for somewhere designed to be kept a personal secret seems counterproductive but its just so good that I HAD TO write this!!!!
Ended up here due to a spontaneous change of plans with some friends. Once we got settled, in we ordered the " Special" - where we let the mixologist decide the drink based on our preferences. Each of us ordered a drink with loose guidelines on flavour and waited for the result.. Y'ALL LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE SCOTTISH WIZARD NAMED BRIAN.
We ordered three separate drinks of varying liquor, palette and character, and Brian NAILED EACH ONE!! Exactly what each person was looking for but totally not what was expected. I don't know how. I don't know why but it was most delicious drink I've had ever ... x3!!! Every sip refreshed your satisfaction of what you ordered but left you wanting to have another, and ANOTHER. Needless to say, we are making this a returning spot whenever possible. I could say more, but you need to experience it for...
