Basically an off-brand Blenz, from the food to the branding. Not a bad things, just an observation - resemblance is uncanny. Cafe spacious and well let with two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows. The decor is minimal and modern, and everything is very clean, but it does feel a bit sterile. Very comfortable noise level. Both staff members working were really kind and helpful. I got their Breakfast Wrap, Lemon Loaf, and seasonal Blue Coconut Latte. The wrap was pretty good - there was a good ratio of eggs/cheese to vegetables, the vegetables seemed fresh, the herb tortilla was tasty. They did a good job heating the tortilla to the perfect balance of crispiness and softness. The lemon loaf (both the loaf and icing) was dry. I did like the airier, more textured crumb in comparison to the denser Starbucks-style lemon loaf. I really liked the Blue Coconut Latte! It's steamed milk (regular milk by default, I got mine with coconut milk) with coconut syrup, and what I'm assuming is a natural powder colouring from the way it looked in the drink, though I'm not sure exactly what since the flavour was subtle and secondary to the coconut. Although it's sweetened with syrup I didn't find it overly sugary. Confusingly, they have ceramic plates for dining in, but no ceramic mugs. They do accept personal mugs. I liked the wrap better than the food at Blenz, will have to try more baked goods to see if the stale loaf was a one-off. Based on what I tried, the drinks are also comparable to Blenz. Their full menu has some interesting stuff, but not all the food was in stock when I visited.

Pretty good place to chill and have a coffee or study. Coffee and tea options are decent. Food is also not bad. I had their pesto and tomato sandwich and their pesto chicken sandwich which are pretty good. They have a new muffin that I forgot the name of. It's like a sweet and cinnamon type of muffin with a nice warm butter texture. It's really good. I don't like granite tables. The lighting is really nice here as it seems they have sort of RGB lights now that cycle through. I've never noticed them at any other waves except for this one. Not sure about other days, but on Sunday late afternoon around 2pm-5pm they have someone playing the piano inside. Noise levels are respectable. All in all, a good place to grab a coffee and study. It's one of my go to spots now after Take Five on Granville closed. They have free wifi and washrooms for customer use. I like that you can book one of their meeting rooms for a group study session.

I usually don't write reviews of coffee shops, but this granted one. It's big and conveniently located on the corner of Smithe & Howe in downtown Vancouver. What really struck me about this place was how clean it was....I mean it was literally sparkling and especially during a pandemic that is very assuring. The staff were very friendly and their pastries, sandwiches, coffee and organic loose-leaf tea collection was impressive. I loved their tasteful decor and shiny floors. There's no question that management here has placed a great deal of love and pride in this business, and that level of care and attention has trickled down to all levels of the staff grape-vine. I went this morning and this place just raised the coffee shop bar for me.

I've had consistently unpleasant experiences with the service at this establishment, particularly with a staff member with shoulder length blonde hair. On multiple occasions, despite being a respectful patron, I've been reprimanded not being outside at closing time, even by just a minute. Most recently, I left one minute after closing and was met with a request to 'respect each other' by leaving on time. I literally looked at my watch as we walked out at 8:01. Her warning that they are closing is always in a rude yelling tone and is basically telling us to get out.

Most recently during a busy night we were initially ushered into a room by an associate due to the coffee shop being full, the other staff member later questioned why we were there and insisted we vacate, despite the shop being nearly empty at that point in a very rude tone.

The tone, language, and demeanor of this staff member towards customers is incredibly poor, making for a subpar customer experience. Perhaps adjusting the posted closing time to 7:59 would better align with their expectations for patrons. It's disheartening to think that such behavior might be condoned by management or owners. I have never left a negative review elsewhere, but this experience warrants it.

Staff in customer-facing roles should receive better training to handle paying customers with respect and professionalism. Unfortunately, based on these experiences, I won't be returning to Waves.

And I don't expect to be treated like this in any establishment but especially not as a paying customer.

For any customers reading this I suggest reading all the "1 star rude staff reviews". It seems the company does not care. They seem busy enough anyway to stay...

Went here for a couple hours to study. The manager of the store (which I thought was some random) was laughing loudly with a couple costumers at a table. That's fine. But when his companions left he stood up by the counter and stared at my friend and I with a creepy smile on his face. Again, we still didn't know he was the manger. My friend asked if he was going to order and he said no and moved away. Later, after we had ordered, he got behind the counter and sat on his phone playing Iranian music loudly. Now if he had done this gently over the speaker that's better but all I could hear was Iranian music from his phone (I'm Iranian too). Anyway, to end the uncomfortable experience: a man came at 4:30 and said that half the shop was going to be used for a language lesson or something at 5. We hadn't been there long so it was a little annoying. We could have sat on the other side of the shop but there are no outlets for charging election devices. For our drinks they were decent. We didn't eat anything so I can't comment on that. Overall, I don't think I will go back due to limited spacing and the manager was just...
