It has been quite a while since I visited the mothership at Gastown, Vancouver whose claim to fame was its location in a refurbished railway car complete with a short length of track underneath. So I was excited to come across an offspring in Whistler BC. The restaurant was busy but not jam packed and it took only a 5-10 minutes to get a table. It was Father’s Day so I had expected it to be busier than it was. However Whistler was cold and raining on and off so there were very few people out and about in the village. Make a note of the restaurant’s name and set your expectations accordingly. No gourmet dining or experiencing unique tastes. Just classic spaghetti and meatball around which all varieties of pasta dishes revolved. I stuck with the star of the menu, namely the aforementioned dish. There was so much food on the plate I could eat only half of it. The meatballs were tasty, with a bit of a zing in the flavour, which thankfully was not due to some hot spice that seems so very popular these days (unfortunately even very mild hot spice is incompatible with my living). The price of the meal is extremely reasonable, especially for Whistler and the sky high prices charged by most of its restaurants. This is especially so when the price of the entree includes sour dough bread, a choice between a salad or soup at the beginning and some delightful spumoni ice cream after. My mango smoothie was $4.50 which is about half of what you would pay elsewhere. Yet it was made with real life-ice cream and was delicious. The restaurant is hidden away somewhat in a basement that you have to partly walk through a building and down some stairs to get to. It would be easy not to know it exists and I came across it purely by chance when I glanced at a fairly small sign indicating its existence up at street level. When you enter the restaurant you discover it is a lot bigger than the entrance would suggest. Lots of wood inside, giving the place a warm, comfortable and relaxing feeling, which was especially appreciated in such inclement weather. Staff were very pleasant and efficient. The only negative was when I asked for the leftovers to be put in a container, the waiter just left an open cardboard box on the table for us to scoop the food into. I am more used to the food being taken away by service staff and then returned inside a neatly sealed closed box without having to deal with all that potentially messy scooping around. And for those interested, at the entrance there was a “we are hiring sign” offering, among other things, select $3 entrees for staff. Food that good and so cheap, as well as a summer living in Whistler, seems like a pretty good opportunity for someone (the same sign also stated a job at the restaurant offered the opportunity for a person to own their own restaurant one day. Hmmm….not impossible I guess but maybe stretching things a bit?). I would highly recommend this restaurant (for the food and atmosphere, not necessarily as a place to work!). Update: Since this review was posted I have been informed that having to fill your own doggy bag was introduced as a preventative health measure during Covid and most restaurants now continue with this practice. As an aside general comment (not specific to this restaurant) while cut back in service made during the crisis was justified, that is no longer the case. Customers are in effect paying the old price for a reduction in service. In a fair world lesser services should result in a corresponding reduction in price. Of course that will never happen!

I have been visiting the Old Spaghetti Factory for many years now (at several different locations). The food has stayed consistently delicious, prices have remained great value and the service being quick and exceptional. The ambience and decor of the facility are fitting to the overall experience. This restaurant has always remained family friendly without loud obnoxious music. The restaurant has always lived up to its name providing delicious and fulfilling spaghetti, meatballs and meat sauce. Freshly grated parmesan cheese is a nice touch to the dining experience. The chicken parmigiana is delicious, being flavourful, tender, and generously portioned/sized. One of the unique/best selling points of the restaurant is the "all included" meal package which includes fresh sour dough bread with garlic butter, soup or salad (I love the blue cheese dressing), spumoni ice cream (that includes pistachio flavoured ice cream) and coffee or tea. I have always enjoyed the fries here and all of the other food has also remained consistent over the many locations and many years of enjoying the food. This restaurant has been a staple for myself and I strongly hope that the resturant continues to maintain its great prices, value, generously portioned and consistent and deliciously tasting food and the great service from its servers. The only other thing to mention is that the waiting area can get busy outside of the resturant (during peak hours) and the washrooms are outside the restaurant although not too far to travel so not a big deal.

The restaurant was located in a dope basement. It was well designed just like other pasta factories. We started off with Minestrone and clam chowder soups. They were both tasty! Then we moved on to our main courses with seafood linguine mainara pasta from their signature pastas and New York steak! Pasta was good al Dante and tasty, mussels seemed to be fresh, love mussels! Overall it could have used more mature-tasting sauce though! I tried their Jackson Triggs Merlot wine and surprisingly it was good, paired well with pasta! 👍🏻 The steak was horrible 🤬🤯🫢🥴🤢 Horrible! It was dry, it smelled like burnt and smoked temperature oil, mushrooms looked silly on the side also stinky! Meat was dry and chewy and 🤮👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 not at all medium rare! It was basically done but not well at all! The ice cream the waiter suggested (because of the all included option) was a NO NO to the pistachio and meeeh rather not for the vanilla! 🥲

We are very familiar with Old Spaghetti Factory and enjoy it many times. We were in Whistler at hotel next door and decided to grab a bite for dinner. It seemed pretty busy although we were seated right away in a corner table right on top of other customers who were very loud and disruptive. We knew what we wanted and waited a while before server came over to serve us and then ordered and food was served fast starting with the warm bread 🥖 and garlic butter, followed by the included soup and then main course and finally finish off with a ice cream 🍨 also included. All meals include the soup or salad, tea or coffee and ice cream 🍨 Service was very average and server never cleared dirty plates and took a long time to refill our water. Overall average experience! Sid the trick with fair prices and decent food but below average service. Don’t expect to be in and out to quick.

You can't come to Whistler Village without having dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory. It was a dark when we went there last night, but I enjoyed what I had, a fancy, unique spaghetti dish that looked like a flag. I was with a group of friends and I think they enjoyed what they had as well. The raspberry slushie I got was refreshing too. We stayed at the Listel Hotel so it was a bit of a walk to get there, but it was worth it. So make sure you stop by there when you're in Whistler. You won't be disappointed. (I also have to give kudos to a certain waitress who I complimented on her hairstyle, but she thought I was complimenting the fact that she is a real redhead. She's half-English/half-Irish. She didn't serve us, mind you, but I was only being a gentlemen. And I gave her a $2 tip as female redheads are a wonderful thing.)

The food, service, and ambiance are amazing. Staff was friendly, and the service was fast. We ordered Pesto Linguine, Chicken Alfredo with Mushroom and Mascarpone Cheese Ravioli(without bacon), Roasted Garlic Grilled Chicken and Blood Orange Bellini drink. The pastas tasted amazing. But they were a bit dry for our taste. We prefer saucier pastas. So, we ordered extra pesto alfredo sauce to add in our pastas, which did come at an additional cost. Complimentory sides are Minestrone soup, sour bread with garlic creamcheese, coffee/ tea, and Spumoni ice cream. The ice cream is so good. Everything is fresh, and tasty. A special mention to Staff Torie. I tried all of her recommendations and enjoyed the food. We loved it so much, we went back the same day for dinner.
