Maralegre — Restaurant in Valparaíso

The establishment is kind of hard to locate, so needed to use Google Maps. The restaurant is big and nicely decorated, makes you feel welcome. The service was terrible, the waiters barely paid any attention and the restaurant was not busy. The food was terrible, I asked for a steak at medium temperature and was well-done, also not all the dishes came at the same time and when they came some of them were cold. Again, the restaurant was not busy, there is no excuse. For the service, food, and price, please do not come to this restaurant. I would also want to point out that it felt that they were discriminating service against my family, people who were foreigners got plenty of attention and their food came before ours even though we were there first. In the heart of the Valparaiso touristy area, it’s a safe area to stay and all the things you want to see are in walking distance. The hotel itself is very charming, like someone’s home but pretty upscale service with a patio restaurant looking over the city and the sea: it’s one of the popular spot to eat for their good food, good service and good view. There are not many rooms, tiny elevator takes you to different floors. A pool, jacuzzi : steam room and sauna are on the lower level. Maralegre is a small fine dine restaurant with a beautiful view to the sea side of Valparaiso if your get a table on the terrace. The food is very tasty and I particularly enjoyed the waiter's humor who made this experience even more enjoyable. Don't expect big portions on your plate but enjoy the excellent food.
