I have been coming to this restaurant ever since I was a kid, and it has always held a special place in my heart. My go-to dish has always been the Hainan chicken rice. Although the price has increased significantly over the years, I would still return time and again for this delightful meal. The lunch set is a fantastic deal, as it comes with an appetizer, dessert, and drink, making it a complete dining experience.
The chicken itself is incredibly tender, and I love that I can choose between white meat, dark meat, or a mix of both to suit my preferences. The rice is cooked to perfection, with a rich, fragrant flavor that complements the chicken beautifully. Each bite transports me back to my childhood, reminding me of family meals and comforting moments.
What truly sets this restaurant apart, however, is the soup. It has a warm, homey taste that feels like a hug in a bowl, enhancing the overall experience. The exceptional service is another reason I keep coming back. Staffs are always friendly, attentive, and eager to ensure that my meal is perfect.
Even with the price increases, the quality and consistency of the food, along with the warm atmosphere, make every...
Read moreThe "Reuben" sandwich was out of this world. Reuben recipe such sauerkraut, cheese etc but instead of pastrami the chef used generous layers of fine slices of fried wagyu beef, so so tasty, l am looking forward to come back again for another helping in future. The signature dish Hainan chicken rice was also one of the best out there. We enjoyed the food so much that I forgot to take pictures. Service was attentive, price as one would expect from a five star hotel restaurant. Tall ceilings and floor to ceiling glass panels gave a very airly feel.
Update 16 November 2021:
Since my raving review in March this year, we came back again after nine months for the same dishes, the Reuben and Hainan chicken. My eagerly awaited Reuben was a total disappointment, the filling had shrunk to a few shriver slices of beef barely 5 or 6mm thick. I understand there is cost cutting these days but this is a step too far for a $270 sandwich, it does not befit the name of Grand Hyatt for excellence. Not coming back again. My partner's Hainan Chicken...
Read moreDecided to visit Grand Hyatt Cafe's dinner buffet on this HK trip as I've heard that they offer one of the best Hainanese Chicken Rice in the city.
Was able to score 30% off by purchasing their e-dining voucher which made the deal even better.
Overall, the quality of the food met or exceeded expectations. The dessert station was definitely one of the highlights of the evening.
However, the selection seemed a bit limited compared to buffets offered by other establishments such as JW and Congress Plus. The famous Hainanese Chicken was different than what we are used to in North America but was still decent in its own way.
Great value for the price I've paid, but if it was the original full price, this will likely not be my first choice for dinner buffet as in my past experience, JW and Congress Plus both offer better selections for their...
