Read moreWeird and unpleasant experience. We were interested in the items in the boutique facade. The lovely hostess invited us and showed us the bar, then seated us. It came as a nice surprise. She offered to take our bag and keep it for us. The menu came and we were a bit surprised by the price but decided to go along as the atmosphere looked nice. The hostess told us different bands play every night, it was 6.30pm and no band so we thought to wait out in case a band was going to play soon. The order took a while to be taken, we had to signal the waiter and the place was pretty empty. The drinks came with no water glasses and they brought us the drinks in a fair amount of time. I didnât really enjoy the quality of the drinks but decided not to judge it. They brought us some snacks (pretzels, almonds and nuts). In the moment of paying, a service charge was added? It was just so random, I never had that in any cocktail bar. Was it for the bag keeping? The then-not-complimentary nuts? For just existing? I just regretted being enrolled in this bar. We came outside and there was no one to give us our bag. We just saw it behind the counter and our patience ran out so we just grabbed it. An even bitter feeling came in for me. I do trust the security in HK although I felt my trust has been abused multiple times in the span of 1h. The customer experience can definitely improve from my perception, especially for ÂŤÂ high-end  drinks. Would I recommend it? No Would I come back? Hell no Do I think there is value for money? No value perceived and costs a lot of money. I am impressed thought by the abilities the hostess has proven for us smoothly getting in. I wished the experience was up to the experience her abilities set. Or maybe it was a red flag from...

We went when it was raining heavily with a storm alert in Hong Kong for the week and were visiting HK for the first time all the way from Dubai. Obviously you don't expect us to walk up Hollywood road in heels or dressy shoes in the pouring rains. (We were dressed alright but wore rain friendly footwear/sandals.) We were immediately turned away at the door because of "inappropriate shoes". We also explained it was because of the rain and it would be uncomfortable to walk in closed shoes but no. Some sort of consideration would have been nice keeping in mind the poor weather conditions. Apparently not.
So anyone looking to visit, make sure you are "red carpet' ready for this place even when it is pouring cats and dogs outside. Was really excited to visit Maggie Choo since we landed in HK, but thanks to the ridiculous experience I think I'm good now.
Thankfully there is no lack of upscale cocktail bars and pubs in the area. So we took our time and money...
