A Disappointing Experience at a Well-Known Pizza Place
Recently, I visited a pizza place famous for its large portions and generous toppings, expecting to enjoy a delicious meal, but I was left greatly disappointed.
I ordered a popular pizza, and there were only three pieces left. To my confusion, the staff deliberately removed the middle piece and quickly pushed the two sides together. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but when I examined my pizza closely, I realized the issue. Based on my calculations, each pizza should have about 6.5 pieces of spicy sausage, but mine only had 4.5 pieces. The difference was simply too obvious.
This kind of behavior is unacceptable and raises doubts about the staff's professionalism. They are working, yet they treat customers like this; it’s truly disheartening. The pizza could have been incredibly delicious, but this service experience made the entire meal feel somewhat disgusting.
I felt unfairly treated, and the staff's behavior was too obvious. If they had simply handed out the pizzas in order, I wouldn’t have had any complaints; I would have accepted it as my own misfortune.
However, the staff deliberately removed the middle piece and clearly chose to give me the pizza with fewer spicy sausages. This selective behavior left me speechless and was truly unacceptable. I hope the management takes this issue seriously so that future customers don’t have to experience the same frustration.
I believe other customers in the restaurant noticed this incident as well, and I suggest the management check the CCTV to see if they can address such irresponsible behavior. I hope to enjoy a truly worthwhile pizza here in the future, rather than being disappointed by corners being cut.
Experience time...
Read moreHong Kong and New York City share quite a few things in common, a great pizza scene isn't one of those things unfortunately. We love eating pizza during trips to NYC, we rarely find pizza in HK that we even like.
Paisano's has been a hit or miss for us over the years, but they are as close as it gets to the NYC style, thin-crust large slices as you are going to find here.
This branch in Wan Chai is located just outside the Johnston Road MTR Station exit. They are open until 10pm nightly offering visitors a chance for a slice or two late in the evening. Prices are up to HK$40-45 per slice so you may do just as well to order a full pizza (HK$135) if you are a group of 2-4 people.
We recently ordered a pepperoni pizza from this Paisano's. It wasn't terrible but paled in comparison to some lovely slices we enjoyed a couple weeks back in the Big Apple. In short, ingredients were fine. Tomato sauce was savoury and good, cheese was good enough quality and the pepperoni fine. It was the crust that we hated. Soft, doughty, elastic and chewy - just not what we like in pizza crust at all.
In the end, we left a bit sad with the recent pizza tried at Paisano's. Perhaps we expect too much and to be fair Paisano's isn't mediocre or awful, something we have found far to often when trying local pizza places here locally. As such, with the right expectations in mind, this is still as good an option for those with pizza cravings...
Read moreWent here ages ago. Before this place opened, this area used to smell of second hand smoke, it was like the ghetto of Wan Chai.
It was so grey and gloomy it reminded me of one of the exits at Sham Shui Po.
I don't know why, but all the smokers gather at both ends of this footbridge.
There would be so many people cluttering there for no reason as well, but it has changed now. The people clutter elsewhere nearer the escalator entrance. Paisano's has definitely brightened that area and given it lively vibes, it is now the mini LKF of Wan Chai. When you walk over the footbridge these days, you are greeted by the smell of delicious Pizza and herbs. Overall the pizza's were sensational, but could be re-heated better because they were cold. Hopefully when I dine here in the winter, my pizza won't be ice-cold. Tried three flavours: Vegetarian, Paisano's slice and the Manhattan. Manhattan and Paisano's are similar but Manhattan does not have olives. The pizza base is just right, and the tomato sauce is rich and the cheese is not stringy...
