sen-ryo (Century Square) — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

Abhorrent service at Sen-ryo Century Square, Lan Kwai Fong.

My girlfriend and I sat down for dinner at approximately 8:50 pm tonight.

By 9:30 pm, the staff started clearing all tables of soy sauce, including our own table. This happened while we were still eating! No one asked if they could take the bottle, they just took it, along with every other bottle in the restaurant. I had no option but to get up and go to the front of the restaurant to politely ask for another bottle of soy sauce.

If that was not enough, 15 minutes later, at approximately 9:45 pm, a member of staff by the name of Koey Li (Coey?) came to our table with the card machine and insisted that we pay our bill. I politely explained that I will pay my bill after I finish eating my dinner. However, she insisted that we must pay on the spot, no ifs or buts! With a mouth still full of food I could not believe what I was hearing. She said she would stand there until we pay, and she did. She did not move, she stood behind me, watching over me while I ate. I asked for the manager and she said there was no manager on duty.

At this point I completely lost my appetite. The meal was totally ruined. We paid and left the restaurant immediately.

I have never been to a restaurant that demands payment while patrons are dining, especially not at 9:45 pm!

It is personally a great shame to have experienced this service as the quality of food at Sen-ryo is always great. We will, however, never be returning after this experience.

I want to start by saying that I enjoy the Sen-ryo in IFC, and go there whenever I have a sushi craving. Yesterday, I decided to try their branch in Central, near LKF and was incredibly disappointed in the entire experience.

The service was mediocre and they seemed to be out of a lot of items. We eventually decided on a sashimi platter and it was terrible - most of the fish didn't taste fresh, the oysters tasted strange and milky and the prawns we ordered weren't cleaned properly (still had their waste sacs in them).

Worse, when we informed the waiters about the dirty prawns, instead of an apology or being offered a replacement, we were told that they could take it back to the kitchen and clean it for us (which should have been done in the first place!). At this point we just paid our bill and left.

Horrible meal that was topped off with upset stomachs and multiple trips to the loo afterwards. I don't recommend this place and would recommend you avoid it. If you want better standards, then I'd recommend the IFC branch instead, because this branch just doesn't...

Used the love this restaurant a lot, but today gave me a shock. I ordered a grilled salmon neck for my toddler, but half way through eating, I saw most part of the salmon was indeed raw with blood still visible (when I pilled off the skin).
