Read moreScarlett Cafe & Wine Bar is really 'on fire' at the moment and has quickly become a Go-To place for French food and wine in TST. This is a very good restaurant right now, a place well worth considering for those planning trips to Hong Kong in the near future.
We have enjoyed several very good visits at Scarlett over the past couple of months, leaving very impressed with the meal experience on each occasion.
During recent meals we have enjoyed their Presa Iberico (pork) and Prime Rib signature mains, both of which have been grilled well and tasted very good. Even better is the Le Chateaubriand tenderloin. We were served a beautiful cut a few meals back. This steak was nothing short of superb.
Note, the mash potato side served at Scarlett may be just as thick and creamy. We are convinced it is as good what is served up at L'ATELIER de Joël Robuchon here in HK.
Recently, we attended a special holiday dinner at Scarlett. On this occasion, we were served an delicious beef tartar with black truffle as well as a celery with lobster bisque starter that was excellent. We were then treated to a nice monkfish and an outstanding venison with jerusalem artichokes. Everything tried on night was very good and worth a reorder.
A starter we particularly like at Scarlett is the foie gras two ways, it is always as good as expected. Desserts have been rewarding as well. Recently, we enjoyed the chocolate Molten Cake and an outstanding Lemon Merinquee tart. The Creme Brulee and Apple Tartin are very good as well.
Another reason we like Scarlett is the wine available here. These are good quality and very reasonably priced compared most French restaurants in Hong Kong. Just ask for a recommendation if you're not sure what to try.
Overall, we have been well satisfied with a handful of meals at Scarlett Wine Bar over the past few months. This place is presently an easy recommendation for any residents or visitors to Hong Kong seeking very good and reasonably priced French...
Read moreTL;DR some of the food is acceptable but its not notable, especially at this price point (~800-1k for two). The poor service is more notable to be honest.
Booked here for a birthday dinner and at the time of taking the order, they took the birthday message to be placed on the dessert. When the dessert came, it did not include this birthday message. I brought this up to the waiter who did not seem very interested at all, who instead was more interested in getting me to pay the bill. In fact at no point did anyone raise this issue to me.
I originally intended to retain two stars for the humour of the other waiter (who was okay in comparison), but I recall my experience of waiting 45-50 minutes for the starter to arrive; when it did arrive, it looked like it'd been sitting for a while. Salmon slices were okay. The only dish that was acceptable was the beef short ribs. Drinks were like the variant of the same thing.
I think the issue was booking the dinner session where the venue was just at capacity; I see some of the glowing reviews on here referring to the brunch session so maybe that's better (?) but unfortunately first impressions really don't justify me recommending this place at all. I also can't particularly pass over the fact that you guys forgot a special occasion and brushed it off like it doesn't...
