As per always, my reviews are divided into facts and my opinion.
FACTS: ESTABLISHMENT-the place has about 6 long tables (probably 4-5 people per table at a time can be seated). I mentioned this because this is a very popular place so it gets packed easily.
PARKING-there is parking for about 8-10 cars right in front of the SODA.
LOCATION- it is located right on the main road leading to the town of Fortuna. It has a huge sign and you cannot miss it
PRICES-they vary from 3,000 colones to 5,000 depending on what you get.
LANGUAGE-all servers speak Spanish and English. We had zero problems communicating in English
BATHROOM: spacious but no changing station for babies Alright, now my OPINION: this is literally a kitchen where a grandmother is most likely cooking. The portion size and FLAVORS cannot be more authentic. The atmosphere of the place is very special. Open air-space decorating with plants all around. Now, be mindful, you’re right next to the main road so if you don’t like the noise then maybe this isn’t for you.
COME AGAIN?—heck to the freaking yessss!!! The food is exquisite, calm local authentic environment, and good portions of food, make this soda a place that, in my humble opinion, everyone should try at least...
Read moreSODA El Tournito delivers an authentic, no-frills dining experience, echoing the laid-back vibe of its surroundings. The open-air setup with simple metal roofing provides an unpretentious, almost homely atmosphere, where the focus is squarely on the food.
Starting with the culinary offerings, the breaded fish and fries are a textural delight—crispy on the outside, succulent within. The fries are the classic, straightforward kind, golden and salted to satisfaction.
The steak with sautéed vegetables and salad is another testament to the kitchen's commitment to hearty, flavorsome meals. The meat is cooked with a no-nonsense approach, allowing the natural flavors to shine, complemented by the sweetness of the caramelized veggies.
Lastly, the chicken fajitas serve up a generous portion of well-seasoned poultry, paired with fresh sides and warm tortillas—comfort food that satisfies with each bite.
In sum, SODA El Tournito is a spot that prioritizes substance over style, delivering well-cooked, satisfying meals that feel like a warm embrace in a setting that's...
Read moreI honestly do not understand the amount of good reviews that this restaurant has... We obviously came here because of the high rate it has but I must say it was the most disappointing experience in our 3 weeks of travelling here.
The service was sub par, we felt like we were "bothering" the waitress every time we asked something and there was absolutely no intention of helping us on her side.
We ordered a breakfast menu which according to the menu it was including the food and a beverage or coffee. I asked for a fruit juice and when we paid the bill it turns out that this was not included in the original combo so we had to pay it apart. The least she could have done was warn us, then I would have ordered a different beverage which was included. To top it off, I had to come back to ask for the coffee that was included in the menu, as otherwise she would have not mentioned or offered it.
A complete...
