Buona — Restaurant in Monteverde

After a wonderful dinner at Gusto’s Pizza, we turned the corner to grab some ice cream, having heard the nearby shop had a great selection of flavors. Unfortunately, it seems they saw us coming. There were no prices posted anywhere, but we went in with good faith, expecting to be treated fairly.

To our surprise, we were charged 5,000 colones for three scoops of ice cream—more than double the typical cost in Costa Rica, where you’d usually expect to pay between 2,000 and 3,000 colones for that amount.

Rather than argue, we paid and smiled, understanding that in some heavily touristed areas, visitors are sometimes seen as easy targets. While we realize that businesses may be struggling and trying to get by, this kind of unlisted pricing and clear overcharging feels dishonest and leaves a bad impression.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to other travelers. There are many other spots in Costa Rica that offer delicious treats at fair, transparent prices—and with the kind of genuine hospitality the country...

Total scam.. avoid at all costs!

The pizza I just ate must have been the worst pizza I've ever bought. Look at the pictures attached... Chuck E Cheese pizza looks and tastes better than this.

Not only was the pizza bad, but got totally scammed when it was time to pay. The restaurant was advertising one slice and 1 soda for 2000 colones (approx. $3.50 USD) special. My wife and I asked the waitress if we could order 2 slices and a soda, and the waitress said that we could. When it was time to pay, the waitress informs us that since we had each purchased two slices (4 slices total), we had purchased 4 of the "one slice one soda" special. In other words, we ended up payment 4000 colones each ($7 USD) for these two slices of "pizza" and two sodas. The waitress insisted that there was no way to just purchase a slice of pizza.. every slice must be purchase with a drink.

Pizza is bad, and the pricing is a scam. AVOID AT...

We had a very delicious meal here, when all other restaurants were so full & had long wait time. We ordered veg rice, nachos and smoothie. The food quantity was good for 2 to 3 people. We went again day after. We liked the great food, excellent service and it's very reasonably priced. The manager/ person in the front is very friendly and the food was as we requested. Gave the recipe for their yummy smoothie too, thank you. Try to go here for a meal, you will...
