The Bank - Kitchen & Bar — Restaurant in Grad Split

My friend and I went to this restaurant and were incredibly mislead by the 4 star and 5 star reviews, when our experience was truly a zero star. It seems that your experience at this restaurant is a gamble, and may be dependent on what you order, but word of advice: stay clear of the beef burgers!! The meat was terrible and the only reason that I took more than one bite was because I was very hungry and was looking forward to a nice meal. My friend’s pizza was also extremely undercooked and soggy. We do not like to waste food but we both struggled through our meal and neither of us could not finish our food. The service was passive aggressive towards us and got annoyed at us when we kept asking for the bill, which we had to wait for for 20 minutes. They were so excessively slow that even the couple sitting at the table next to us noticed and told us to leave without paying to get their attention. We rarely leave reviews for places but we really felt that it was important to describe our experience so that hopefully other people do not make the same mistake as us. This was probably the unfriendliest waiter I’ve ever encountered. Right from the start, he wasn’t kind at all—maybe because I asked for onions instead of cheese on my pizza. I understand that some places like this one have certain rules, like not allowing changes to dishes or not letting people play cards at the table. That’s fine (it decreases the experience, but you can’t blame the waiter for it). But it was the way he communicated those rules and his overall attitude that really stood out—in a bad way. For a place that’s strict about guests not playing cards quietly while waiting for their food, it was surprising that basic things like having your drink poured at the table weren’t done (not a big deal to me, but I imagine others might mind). When we asked to pay by card, the waiter didn’t even give us the bill—he just held the card reader up in our faces, without saying anything, which felt rushed and unfriendly. On top of that, one of the staff members was smoking near the outdoor tables, and the smoke drifted over to us, which was pretty annoying while trying to enjoy a meal. The list goes on but I think I made my point.

We stopped by The Bank Kitchen & Bar in Split for a quick snack and drink as we were feeling pekish and thirsty. We ordered a portion of chips and two drinks. When our server came over, we immediately sensed something was off from his body language, although we didn’t know why at the time.

Only later did we realise we had accidentally sat in the wrong area – something we would have been happy to correct if it had simply been explained to us. Unfortunately, instead of a friendly heads-up, the server brought our drinks and banged them down on the table without a word, then removed our cutlery with clear attitude.

When the chips eventually arrived, they were handed over in silence, along with just two small wooden cocktail sticks to eat them – no cutlery, no napkins, no explanation.
